Is this a rip?

I recieved a message alerting me about this...

I really don't know how to proceed, since the person gave the credits in the skin's description, but never asked for my persmission and also changed my original graphics (erasing the skins real name of the titlebar).

I remember that last year, someone made a rip's list at skinz org and all the ripped skins were banished from the damn winamp.com site.
It seems that this kind of sucking things will never ands there.

You should email them and force them to take it down. Threaten legal action if you must. It's your work, no one has the right to alter it an re-post it somewhere else as they please.

They had a forum there to report rips... I don't know if it's still there or not. I'll try to find it.

Renato...if someone tells you that yours is the greatest ever, it still gives him no right to do what he did....besides, was that one that I did the trans on?...If so, I'm ripped too...and I'll have his gonads on toast...

I think it's disgusting that this is on the Winamp site! Renato, you should force them to remove it. Just because you didn't upload it to that site doesn't give ANYONE the right to post it there. That should be YOUR decision, and no-one elses. I'm off to report it now..........

man, and they should have read that line: "no permission was sought or given" - I mean, that must make it pretty clear to them that that's a rip! And they've got nothing better to do than feature it... bad,bad world we live in.

I replied to their newsletter....may help a little...

That 'Spunkit' skin is a stolen work from a personal friend of mine Renato...Treetog.....we both have been skinners for many years and are disgusted by the proliferation of stolen artwork in the guise of 'something different'.
Remove it from your site.
You never had approval to host it and considering your knowledge of its dubious origins, should never have accepted it, let alone promoted it in a newsletter.

That does indeed suck mightily. I'm a huge fan of MusicMatch - it isn't free, but I'd heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a great all-in-one ripper, player and library.

I just openned a thread on winamp.com forum, asking them to remove the skin.

Let's see how much time they will spend to proceed it.

Well it is either flattery that made him do it, or it is something elese which is beyond my scope of thought right now.. But either way, the fact he did ask you Renato, is pretty low. Winamp should take this down I think in repect of the fact that you are the real author of the skin.

Wow! This is really sad... Please let us know how things turn out Renato because we could band together and complain to nullsoft - the fact that they promoted this rip in a newsletter is a terrible breach of copyright. I think they even owe you an apology in their next newsletter...
