Demo vs Full version

Hi people,

I just wanted to ask a few questions regarding the full version of Gal Civ II -- Ultimate.

I have GalCiv I and I did like it to a point but the music got to me.  Now playing with no sound or only music from an MP3 player tends to disconnect me from enjoying the game wholesomely.  So I thought, "Let's upgrade to GalCiv II because it would surely be different.

Well, I tried the demo for GalCiv II and to be quite honest, I didn't like it much.  Now, the demo, as I understand it, is the basic game GCII *minus* the expansions, right?  So I wanted to know from you all if the expansions DO NOT include:

1.  that freaky female/clown robot heading the 'research' section

2.  the opera-sounding music which is similar to GalCiv I (which I do not want to listen to any longer as it drives me crazy)

I do like the GalCiv game/concept.  Just because I did not like the demo doesn't mean that I won't like the full version.  As an example, I tried the Sid Meier's Civ V demo and although I did not like the demo much, I went ahead and bought it anyway; hesitantly yes but I ended up liking the game very much and felt the demo did not do it any justice.  I was familiar with the Sid series and the genre so committing to that purchase wasn't as difficult.

I believe the same might be true here with GalCiv.  Though GalCiv is realtively new to me, I am willing to purchase the Ultimate collection but only if it offers better options than that clown/female robot and music.  Otherwise, I'll just wait for GalCiv III whicih should offer more choices...hopefully offers more choices.

I appreciate your time.

Both these things are in the game.

The "freaky female/clown robot" will only appear as humans with good alignment and can be easily modded out.

The music is the same, and all I can say is if you won't buy the game because you don't like the music and have some objection to just listening to your own music or playing without it... it's your loss. A GalCiv III is planned eventually but isn't likely to appear anytime remotely soon.

You had mentioned modding?

I did not realize that modding will effectively change that female/clown robot.  Are you certain of this?

Also, is there a way, by using modding, to change the music?  Is there a music modd?  The music mod would only replace the game music and not the sound effects of the game, right?  I love classical music and I feel that adding my music playlist would be an excellent addition to this game.  Oh, I would play it for hours!

I don't know about music, but to replace the robot all you'll need to do is replace the "Message_RobotGood" image (in the GFX folder) with something else. You could also edit a raceconfig file to use something else as well (the relevant line is "ROBOTMOVIE" or something similiar, I'd have to check). I've never messed with the message robots specifically but I've modded very similiar things.

Just wanted to say that after getting GalCivII, U.E., I'm thoroughly enjoying it....and the music is a lot better than how I thought it would be.

Is there going to be GC III?  :dur: Oh man I hope so.
