What Would You Guys Expect in the Expansions? (no gameplay please)

Let's imagine the gameplay has been defined by then, so let's not use this to explain changes of that kind.

I am just wondering what else we could get in a game that allows for all sort of customizations.

Personally I'd like to see

1) A Play By EMail option.

2) Flight introduced

3) Different looking kinds of terrains, maybe having to do with seasons

4) An improved way to play on the 3D map, since right now some woods look like grass and special locations are hard to see on that one. (lots of playes just play on the cloth map)

5) Different style of play for different AI sovreigns (personalities that may change from game to game in order to be surprised)

6) An AI that can use boats, so that we can effectively have islands in the game

7) An official  Random map generator with all sort of options

8) An initial setting to make certain crucial elements of the game optional (IE teleport)

More units (equipment options), spells, quests, techs and buildings including  "wonders" (one per game buildings).

Random map generator is very needed for re-playability. The more options, the better.

I'm not sure what you mean by "no gameplay", since you yourself suggests Flight, different playstyles for different AI sovereigns, and settings on things such as teleport - any or all of which would no doubt influence overall gameplay quite a lot.

But anyway; Bears.

AI Sovereigns with really different personalities that engage the player.

Example: Ravager - A brutish AI personality that pursues a policy of razing the cities and lands of his enemies. He sponsors bandits (new unit that has a hidden owner) that raid the caravan routes of other sovereigns who do not pay him tribute.

Example: Swiss Guard - AI sovereign that believes in cautious expansion, a strong econmy, and strong defenses.

Example: Dealer - AI personality that seeks defensive alliances with other sovereigns and announces them to the world.

Example: Demon Worshipper - AI Empire that focuses their war efforts on summoning demons.

Naval battles. (treat boats as a tileset type where the soldiers are aboard them and it's done via boarding actions?)

A magic item system where items can be crafted and given to heroes or troops. (from damage bonuses to elemental resistances, invisibility, flight, etc.).

Fantasy races. Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Lizardmen

Randomly generated maps.

Seasons once the world has been restored enough.

Rivers.

More/better strategic and economic impact of terrain.

Improved/more complex economy.

I second all the above.  in addition:  Easier stack management on strategic map.

Underwater environment, sov?  etc.  A risk added for entering most "ruins"  abandoned temples, etc.  Any abandoned building complex may be shelter from the hot days and cold nights of the desert - Too many risk free goodie huts.  And, (like for the floating armor) DON"T remove the tile if the player says, "opps, I'm outta here."  Give us a chance to prepare and say "I'll be back"  with friends...

First and foremost: Clothmap battles. I expected it to be done already so people who play on clothmap only can play tactical battles.

After that a better and diverse AI. I want to see how AI sovereigns really act as sovereign with own strategic style.

I'd like vastly expanded tactical maps.

I would like to see:

* Improved diplomatic actions (Spy's, etc, pp)

* More Hero customization (in my opinion should be partly incorporated by patches)

* PBEM option!
