Windows 7 - Impulse - Memory Overflow crashes

Hello,

Regarding Elemental

I would love the game.  It is going to be great, but it randomly crashes with memory overflow errors.  Sometimes near the beginning, other times hours into the game.    I have not been able to finish a game yet.

The memory error pops up behind the game and the game is frozen.  I have to go into task manager and kill the process to end it.

I am running Windows 7.  I am running the program through Impulse which is how it was purchased and installed.  It is patching properly 1.06 which is correct version at the time of this post.

Otherwise I like the game.

PS I love to play Galactic Civilizations, have all the add ons it is wonderful.

Matt

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and link the contents into a post here via pastebin. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

The file can be found in My Documents\My Games\Elemental

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug log will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Hah, you must have a macro ready to go Kryo, I know I've seen you post those exact words many times already.

A couple to myself (at least!)

I'm having the exact same issue, Windows 7 x64.

I get an "Out of Memory" pop up box behind the game. I click ok, the game stops responding.

Typically it happens when I'm moving on a turn, and after between 1 and 3 hours play.

Restart and reload, and I'm good again until the next crash.

Yes, I make rather extensive use of the Clippings addon for Firefox :)

Ok, a data point. I used to have the out of memory problem too, with Windows 7 64bit, ATI HD Radeon. It would appear around 2 hours into the game (turn 120+ - 200). I have updated to the latest Catalyst drivers (10.8) and now I have played 165 round, at least 3 hours of game time. No crash, but I have to go now. Will try again another afternoon that I will have that amount of time.

Hi All,

I will play again this holiday weekend and get the log after it crashes and before restarting.  I will then post it here.

I appreciate all the posts and will work with the dev team to get this issue resolved.  I will also patch my video drivers just in case they are not up to date.  (I think the drivers are up to date, but I will double check).  I will also check sound drivers while I am at it.

For the Devs I am running the game on my 64 bit win7 (Gateway FX machine, Gateway's gaming machine) quad i7 chips each dual threaded (looks like 8 processors to windows, pretty cool), 9 gigs mother board RAM and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 285 vid card.  All stock from the box.  No mods to the machine hardware.

The only software change I made was to upgrade from Vista to Win 7 with a free upgrade through windows and to patch drivers, antivirus (Norton), etc...  The windows upgrade was months ago and went smoothly.  Every other game or business program runs smooth on the machine including online gaming.

Regards,

Matt
