[spoilers]Campaign progress help

I'm stuck in the campaign. My log says I should go warn lord Markinn. However, no matter how much I dance around him, his city or the mentioned beach, I can't seem to make the game progress.

Any hints?

Just continue on to Pariden and sail your ships north up the coast from there.

Edit: For future players;

Well, since I put spoilers in the topic name, I continued up the coast, unloaded some troops, touched a fire shard there. It opened the black wall.

Just finished what I assume is book I of the campaign ,  how do I progress further?

do I need to start a new game  ?
