Error

Stupid thing

Okay, so I'm relatively new to Demigod multiplayer.

Everytime I join a match, a few seconds in it always pops up with CRITICAL ERROR: INVALID GAMESTATE. Every match i've ever been in ended this way. So I think it's me. I really have no idea what is causing it though, I hve fully updated everything and I click "Run as Administrator".

Running: Demigod DG MAIN 1.30.0217, IMPULSE Stardock version 3.28.564 (Build 1982)

No idea what this issue is. Could someone please help me figure this out?

This usually happens immediately when someone has a mod enabled but there are differences between the versions, but they are called the same thing... I'm guessing that's not the case with you though...

I'd try a fresh install personally and see if that sorts you.  Or just host a 1v1 plz join TEST game and see if you still invalid gamestate out with just 1 player.

And last, it could very well be a connectivity issue on your side of things.  The monk wrote up a great guide on what you need to do on your end regarding port forwarding, etc.  http://www.themonk.ca/Monk/Networking_and_DEMIGOD.pdf.  Suggest you give that a read.  Hope that helps you some!

Yeah, I have no mods at all. I will try the 1v1 TEST to see if that works, and then give that thread a read. Thanks for your help! Much appreciated.

I tried the 1v1 and it lasted quite a bit longer than usual, but then the error popped up, so it must be my connectivity.

found the issue, my firewall was not playing nice with Demigod. fixed it. Didn't even think of that, it usually plays nice with everything. Thank you very much!

well i fixed the firewall and i am still getting the error. sadface. on to try more things!

You get in invalid gamestate when the game makes reference to a part of the program and it gets a different response from two players. So it probably means something went wrong in your installation, and the game gets out of sync, so it just forces everyone to exit.

Yeah - if its still acting up, I'd suggest reinstalling.  You should be able to download it directly from impulse with all the patches loaded if you like (or bought retail).

I'd really take your time going through the monks guide and make sure you have everything setup as described (static ip, ports forwarded correct, impulse reactor configured).  Demigod can be pretty finicky with regards to connections.  Some have it worse than others, sadly.

Here's another thread with perhaps a little more info on connectivity.

And here's where you can find impulsereactoroptions.  On your pc it is either C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock Games\Demigod\bin

or C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod\bin

Execute that program and make sure the start and end ports match what you have forwarded.
