Why would someone do that?

I mean, I don't like cats, seeing as there's one who keeps getting into our garden and upsetting/attempting to kill the other, wild, animals in our garden. It's already had a fight with one of the doves that visit. But anyway, why would you kill the cat unless it was trying to kill you or someone else? (which is pretty damn unlikely)
