Another year coming to an end

Yup, another year has come and about to go and I'm getting ready to celebrate another birthday.

This year:

August saw me become a 30/30 person, 60 years old and frelly served 30 yrs of Military and Government service, all down hill from here.

November marked my fifth year in the community and my first year doing Theme Manager Suites.

December will see me turn 61 and hopefully get my last years Christmas wish, which I will make again this year.

All in all it wasn't a bad year.  Although I still find that it's hard for me to understand how things can keep happening over and over like:

Parents still willing to allow their sons and daughters to go off to be killed in undeclared wars for no reason other than Political and Religous ones.  After more than 2000 years you would think we would have learned something.

Why people look for others and the Government to solve their problems.

Why people put their trust in Politicians.

Why we vote for Politicians who promise change and then they just go ahead and do what the last folks did.

Why the U.S. Government has to send more troops to Afganistan and then announce when we will be leaving that country.

Why someone thought they just had to cut my strands of Christmas lights untill I finally stopped replacing them.

I suppose we never get old or wise enough to understand why most things happen in our lifetime.

Now before folks want to take to task over these things, it's my feelings and I am entitled to them, just like my opinions.  It's what I freely gave up while I was serving my country so the rest of the folks could have theirs.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Holiday Season and a Happy New Year. :sun:

I hope you have a surprisingly awesome birthday, John.

As for the undeclared wars, and the politics, and all that...I think those are just man-made things comparable to the weather, the value of which is to teach us each personally what we're made of and to give us empathy for others.  For instance, before my OWN child went off to war (not for patriotic reasons, mind you; he wanted a college education and the GI bill was the only way he could afford it), I had no idea how far my heart could go out to other parents of soldiers!  I think there's a deeper meaning in all the daily little hassles that "harsh our buzz" -- the random annoyances, mindless vandals, etc.; the experience makes us connect with each other.

You're doing a great job with those suites, and I want to take this opportunity to let you know, I appreciate that you do them.

You shouldn’t feel bad about letting people know, it’s a lot of fun wishing someone a happy birthday. Oh yeah...we gotcha now. }:)

Letting folks know your feelings is healthy.... many feel the same way, and even if they don't, it gives them a reason and opportunity to re-evaluate them.

John, you're a good and helpful person. I speak from first hand knowledge. I wish you a happy holiday, a 'Suite' one, you might even say. :-"

In general, this time of year, and birthdays put most folks in a pensive mood and mostly that's a good thing. We should question what goes on around us.

I wish you (and all of us) a New Year of peace, good health, security and joy. I also will be wishing you a Happy Birthday come 12/26.

The very best of holidays John, and to all of my friends.  I've had a great 2009.  My daughters were both able to come for a visit, I have a loving and patient wife, and my dog thinks I'm the greatest thing since bacon.  Who could really ask for more?:sun:

Hope you have a great B-Day Philly. My wife's is the 22nd (so's my 24th wedding anniversary)

Personally I'll be glad to see 2009 over and done with. There's a lot of it I'd just assume forget. I'm praying 2010 is much-much better.
