Last person to post wins, unless they are a moderator or admin.

Basically, this game is played so that the last person who post wins. What do they win? The ThreadKiller's Achievement; The honor of being the last person to post by virtue of the content of their post. However, moderators, admins, and anyone else who has the ability to lock the thread are disqualified from winning the ThreadKiller's Achievement, if they win by locking. If the thread is won by method of locking, the "winner" gains the Achievement Of Reprehensible Epic Lameness.

New pond.

This weekend is a holiday.  Next weekend is...  Just another plain weekend.

meh, I hate the holidays

too many people, too many problems

The same can be said of everyday, can it not?

Depends on the location.

Example Disney Land.

Certain times of the year it is empty and ride lines are very small. Holidays are not fun there IMHO.

Meh, I suppose not everyone thinks the way I do.  Personally, I believe there are far too many people in the world...We need to Terraform and colonize mars.  Not saying I want to live there, I just know that if we did, a good quarter of the population would want to go there simply because "Everyone else is doing it"

More like poor management of people placement then too many. If you want something to colonize try the oceans around the equator( hurricanes/typhoons don't develop there. Coriolis Effect). There are many plans on the drawing board that are as developed as the idea of colonizing Mars but much more technologically feasible. You are able to remove a lot of people from the Terra Firma, control them better, and help restabilize many harmed environments. Also underground concepts may work as well.

I forget the name of the project worked on back during the early years of the cold war. It was project stepback, or backstep, or something like that. If you want to control population growth, it's the absolute way to get it done quick and thorough.

There have been a lot of projects. Some interesting, some feasible under the right circumstances, and some just down right inhumane.

inhumane I guess is a gray area on this one. It was a simple catapult device which could be put into orbit and loaded with a series of carbon rods. These rods wouldn't shatter under the force of entering the atmosphere and would gain enough speed to create absolutely catastrophic explosions without the residual radiation nukes leave behind. The idea was to have the system aim at the most populated cities on Earth, allowing it to reduce the population by about 40% and thus avoid famine and all for everyone else.

Again, that doesn't truly solve the problem as the problem is poor management. Take food for example. We currently can produce enough food for everyone but thanks to poor management not everyone gets the food they need. You will still have problems just on a smaller scale.

The idea was that they could maintain a status quo through elimination of excess population. There will always be problems, but at least this way they'll be problems that are easier to foresee. I just like that they actually calculated all the measures to get it done. Can you imagine the PR campaign you would have to run to not look like a douche?

Have the honor to die first. Move to such and such a city to help humanity by your death. :P

Yeah no thanks.

Government is the issue in this case.  If everyone fended for themselves, was self sufficient(Or family-sufficient as the case would likely be) the issue would be gone, since there would be no massive settlements that drain thier location of resources so quickly.  Alternatively, eliminating air transportation and cars/similar vehicles would eliminate the issue as well, since people would be forced to leave the over-populated areas or starve to death.

Personally, I like the mars Idea better, then they are actually off the planet...and people's lifestyles would not have to change (Because even with the ideas you mentioned, people are people and are not going to change the way they live just because it will help othes...)

if people are people and not going to change, then it's not really just a government issue. I guess that means government is the way it is because people created it.

Self-sufficiency sucks. Even hippies know that.

Depends on how you define self-sufficiency.

Went to the web site and it said the release date will be on 8/16 this year however, that may be in Europe first before a US release date. Here's a vid showing off their new engine running the game...

No pressure, I can't even play X3 Terran Conflict properly, the game clocks in at 7.75 Gigs. More than 3 times that of Sins.

No, does not have a dedicated video mem, it's shared, has the raw power to push, 2 giga hertz dual core AMD. But at three years old it's time to upgrade, maybe next year the refund fairy will be kind, or hit the NY, NJ, or CT Lottery...
