Stardock Boycotting UPS? [Updated]

Stardock boss Brad Wardell has updated his Facebook page with his objection to UPS pulling its advertising from FOX in objection to some of the comments by conservative host Glenn Beck (calling President Obama a "racist" in particular). Apparently Wardell is a fairly staunch conservative as well, which prompts him to say that Stardock does "a non-trivial amount of shipping with UPS" and that if they did not reverse their position on this, he would take this business to FedEx. Boycotts are somewhat common, but this is the first time we can recall the treat of a company being boycotted over their own boycott. Thanks GamePolitics via The Angry Bear.

 

 

It sucks but, I will not support anyone wo sides with Beck, no matter the BS they spout to try and cover themselves.

 

I liked Impulse and the games Stardock was putting out, as I have already put money down for Elemental it becomes the last.

And there was so much promise for this company.

Just so everyone has more information about the story...

From an artice at The Escapist:

"My Facebook comment was taken considerably out of context. I could care less about Glenn Beck or whether someone advertises on their show or not," he said. "But UPS is boycotting the entire channel which annoyed me enough to ask my publishing director to look into whether it was true (it was) and have them look into Fed Ex which provided competitive pricing and make use of them for our uses."

"Frankly, I wouldn't have cared if UPS had pulled their ads from Fox if they had done so quietly. But they didn't. They had to 'take a stance'," he explained further on his personal blog at JoeUser.com. "I'm not a huge fan of FOX. But as a conservative, it is nice that there's one station where my values aren't ridiculed. I don't have some 'thing' for Fox. But Fox makes an easy target and it irritated me to see UPS playing such games."
