Solution for Lagproblems?

Hi,

although I have a quite reasonable PC system and a good internet connection, I experience lag problems in all multiplayer sessions in Demigod.

In chats with other players I could find out that I am not the only one but every player I talked to has this problems. Seriously, this is a major quality lack in such a game which is heavily dependend on a fluent game. Therefore, my 2 questions:

1. Do you already know which causes lags and lags spikes during internet based sessions?

2. What are your plans to improve the quality of the network sessions and when will we be able to get a solution?

I would hate it to throw such a nice game into the trash can only because the online gaming is inacceptable.

Greetings

Is your connection being proxied or are you directly connecting to most players? In my experience, proxied games tend to lag more than global direct connections. Also, one bad internet connection among the bunch (either slow or high-ping) will cause lag for everyone.

Reasonable Pc, and good internet connection are subjective.  Post you specs, especialy a speedtest.net result.

Since you say you experiance lag in all of your multiplayer games i suspect your upload speed is to low.  Im not sure who "every" player is that always has this problem.

All from your point of view. I play often and experiance none of what you have mentioned, nor is it a topic of discussion i have been in.

As tperge said it sounds like your upload cannot handle the requirements. Also where are you located my be helpful and your ISP.

Some ISP also throttle P2P connections.

Also what is your sim speed. Not all game lag is from the connection but it may be your PC. Sim speeds of 0 and below will affect gameplay.

Hello there,

thanks for your answers, here my speedtest results:

What is the minimum upload requirement for this game to get it lagfree?

Btw, as noob I'm eagerly looking for good players to train with to improve my gameplay. Can you give me some advice where I should start looking at?

Thanks Gadget

That upload speed is 100% fine as long as there are no other heavy internet users in your house consuming a lot of bandwidth while you play, by such things as streaming online videos or uploading torrents.  Post a pingtest.net result as well, this site tests the quality of your line which also important outside of just the speed.

Thanks for your answers!

My washing machine is sometimes at work when I play, does that count too?

As strange as it might sounds... maybe

I once had a problem in 2000 or so with a specific ATI video card in my system.  I spent about 100 hours working on it (with ATI tech support quite often) and when it was all said and done I concluded that if I plugged my computer into one outlet in the wall it had the error, if it was plugged into another outlet it was fine.

Both outlets were on the same circuit.  Different video cards worked fine, it was just that one in that one outlet.  Shrug.
