New Chat window

Is it just me or is the new chat windown a downgrade to the original. I find that it blocks half of my screen every time someone types and it gets really annoying in the middle of the battle. Who liked the original on more?

I liked the old chat better. Seeing the map is crucial and the chat window is rather large. I'd rather have the values of the health, mana and XP bar displayed. It would be so much more useful...

I think they should keep the old one when people say something so the game isn't interupted but keep the new one when you want to check it.

I would like to see a scroll bar for the chat window, so you can see older messages.

I like the new one, in that, I can actually see/read it now.  The old one flashed SO fast, and had such blurry textures I could never read it.  This one is a bit intrusive, but at least I can read it easily and never missed a message so far.  Now if we could only set up hotkeys or macros; perfect.

They should just increase the opacity on it.

or better yet, give an option so you can adjust the opacity to your personal preference

agreed GPG really dropped the ball on this "fix".  if they had actualy read some of the posts about why the chat window was broken they might have noticed it was more about giving colour to the text so you knew who was talking, and not about the box.  the box (with a scroll) would make a lot more sense when you click on "Chat" up at the top, but showing a history of the last messages every time someone says "GJ" is pointless.

I like the new one, I just wish I could move it down farther on the screen.

The old chat didnt need fixing, it just needed an option to stay on screen imo. Not a fan of it fading so fast, needing to basically type or press enter to see it. That being said I am at work and havent been able to see the new one yet.

I like the new one.  I never saw the chat text with the old one b/c I am focused on the middle of the screen.  Now when it pops up I *see* it!

But yeah if they could do this, why couldn't they spend all of 1 minute to enable the health/mana numbers to always be visible? :'(

what resolution are you guys playing on?

i always hear "the chat window is too big" while it's pretty perfect for me (i'm playing 1680x1050)

i guess it doesn't scale so lower resolutions have problems with it

pros of the new chat windows - prety nice contrast with the symbols .. It's easyer to read the text, cuz mostly the background is very light and it was hard to read.

cons - this new chat background eat some screen space and U can lose some important action in game cuz of it. But the game still playable for me, i'm playing at 2560x1600 Resolution. So it's not so critical.

hmm there is a better way of  having it have it so it is move able adjustable in size  and lockable   also have when u press enter to type if u use your mouse wheel  it will scroll up or for those who havn't got a mouse wheel the up and down arrows

you could also have a toggle button  to toggle the opacity  between full and  your custom setting which you could change in options

o so simple

This thread made me realize a new strategy.  During the heat of a battle, one should spam messages to the enemy which blocks them from seeing or running away.  It's cheap but a new tactic in version 1.1.

The new chat windows is better than the old one, since you can read the text more easily now and notice chat messages pretty much every time now. However, it still needs tweaking, i.e. less obtrusive and color coding of allied and public chat messages.

So many simple and effective fixes for the old chat window exists and they have chosen the worse one. GJ.

i hate people who play with something once say it is good then  dont pay attention to it

Well...The best they can do i think is to let users to switch between old and new chat windows in options menu for example.
