Date and Time of the OP?

Why is there no Date and Time of the OP on the threads?

Also, I would enjoy being able to skip all the jibber jabber and simply read devs posts. I realize I can click on Frogboys name, but it only shows his original posts and not his after thoughts. Thanks.

Date and Time of the OP?

Um ... It's right there under the title.

AFAIK there's no way to do this. The forum search function used to be able to do that for you but that hasn't worked since the forum upgrade of over a year ago. Instead the general consensus is to use google with the site search option but searching for "Frogboy" site:forums.galciv2.com is not particularly helpful, but perhaps your google fu is better than mine.

Also if you gave it half a chance you might be surprised at the useful information that's contained in all the "jibber jabber."  ;P

Actually, the forum search works now. An update about 2 months ago (something like that) seems to have fixed it. I just searched "frogboy" with it and got 7 pages of results. Most people just haven't realized it yet, but it does finally work now.

Yep, I recently removed a person and all his posts [with embedded porn links]...via the 'view user replies' ....worked a treat, too....;)

Was that before... or after you bookmarked the more interesting links??? :-" ;P :X

Oh wow. Now that I think about it, forum search was mentioned a while back...

Anyways, I'm sure Jafo had to make sure those links were absolutely NSFW...

It is the responsibility of a moderator to investigate thoroughly all links to ascertain their unsuitability for the site. I used to spend hours investigating... ;p

now all we need is to be able to delete the really old dead threads from our "my posts" and "my replies"

I think that feature is intended to be purely a history of posts and replies, for which it is useful. What should be added is a watched thread section where the user can decide which threads to show.

Yes, and so they should... but what may be unsuitable for the site may be deemed quite suitable FOR the moderator. O:)

I used to spend hours investigating...

I bet you did.... hours upon hours of 'investigating' ;P   :-"

Where is this "view user replies" function?

Well, now my secret is out.I have been using it to come up with answers(hopefully correct) for some time now.Y'all didn't think my memory was that good did you? Now if everyone starts using it,I might as well hang up my pointy hat.:'(

Actually it wasn't so much as fixed as replaced with some google thing. Not to say that something isn't better than nothing because it is but I think the old home grown search was superior however I may just be missing some features.

Like where is this "view user replies" function?

Click on your nick [or someone else's] in the forom....and a drop-down will show....;)

Actually...that specific part is an admin function....though there is a 'find posts by....'  as well ...;)

Yeah the find posts by is not all that helpful since most folks have far fewer posts than replies and simply using the google site search i.e. "by Mumblefratz" site:forums.galciv2.com gives you the same thing.

In fact as far as I can tell, all the local search function does is to call google search so that you don't have to explicitly supply the site search tag. Like I said it's better than nothing but definitely not as good as the old forum search which definitely did specifically find replies by user for everyone plus had some useful advanced search features.

Using it to search for Mumblefratz on Galciv2 comes up with about 1000 entires however I've made close to 4000 replies on this site so it's clearly not complete. All in all it really adds nothing to going to google except save you the trouble of typing site:forums.galciv2.com as part of your search string.

I know beggars can't be choosers and something is better than nothing but in my opinion the old system was far superior as it seemed to be a direct search of the common forum database.

sorry guys i wasn't clear on the Time and Date thing -- I was wondering if it could be on the post before you click on it.

For example--when I am looking at the Dev Journals I would rather only look at new ones(by now i know which ones are new) but since when someone replies it puts it back on top I am not sure which one is new!

--and ty for all the replies so quick!

Ah, see what you mean. It currently shows last reply info and you want original post info. I'd like to see that too.

No way, there is a vulcan emo now?! (\B):vulcan:(\B)

anyone see a bug, in the edit i only see the vulcan symbol but you see what we got

It's a 'Fuzzy' emote - : Fuzzy: - designed for me. The vulcan emote doesn't work for some reason.

It would be illogical to have two working Vulcan emotes.

I'm 'fully functional', that's all I care about ;)

The way I've been checking new posts is looking at the icon to the left of the title. It's different if you've read it before.

I really want to be able to view the OP's in chronological order, though. :'(

That just gives you chrono order on everything, and replies far outnumber OPs. As far as I know, there's no way to list just OPs in chronological order.
