Are you happy with the pre order sales?
As the title says, are you guys happy with the amount of pre orders you got? I'm not asking exact numbers, but was it lower/higher/on par with what you expected?

Yeah, we don't typically tell about how many orders we had. If we pass a particular milestone though we might do an announcement. Otherwise, you'll just have to try and sleep at night without knowing ![]()
SO WERE YOU HAPPY OR NOT?
Way to keep us hanging kyro...lol

Come on Kryo, spill the beans. ![]()
They can't announce it, otherwise it will be disadvantage to them on their next business negotiation.
I wonder if it'll reach the top 10 NPD pc weekly sales chart for a week. The NPD has been dominated by mostly WoW and Sims.
I wish I could preorder it but GPGs recent history is a little blood spattered. I'm a fan who recently decided sitting on the fence is worth more to me than preordering things all the time. (That doesn't actually just apply to GPG, but anyway.
)
But it does sound pretty dang cool. I hope to own it soon. ![]()
Toski, he said "Yeah, we don't typically tell about how many orders we had." He is saying yes to the fact they dont typically tell how many orders they had. At least thats how i saw it.
Im happy that I was able to obtain a copy on the weekend
but I dont see why retailers have to "hold" the game longer if they already have it in stock.
I would have liked to see other retailers (Amazon, Best Buy, GoGamer, etc) release or ship their games by last Friday too so we could have more people to play Pantheon with over the weekend.
well this is because GS decided to release it ahead of the street date. it wasnt supposed to release till the 14th, which is why your mostly alone on the servers killing AI, lol.
Lots of reasons retailers are asked to hold off for street dates. Mostly because there is infrastructure required to support the game which is not planned to be ready before a specific time, or because hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars is put into marketing the release date of the game. Also, it means that all retailers get a chance to start selling at the same time. Otherwise, stores which have more weight with the distributors would be able to get hold of the game early and get the majority of sales by selling it early - like EBGames/Gamestop is doing here. It's not just because it isn't fair on the developer, it also isn't fair on the other retailers.
As if the NPDs had any value. They're not evaluating all forms of distribution, and they're have a limited regional view.
Even so, retail is still a significant part of sales so it definately has value when considering the NA market, though it's certainly becoming less relevant as the years go by.
I just picked up my copy.
I usually dont buy games, we all know there are several sources to get everything u need on the net.
I planned to buy GTA4 when it was released for PC; yet the reports on the DRM crap and all the bugs (game wont start with ATI video card?? what the hell?) forced me to not buy and not even play it.
I spend all my free time playing dota with my friends and we've done so for quite some time.
Since Demigod is supposed to have similar gameplay, I purchased demigod yesterday and everything is fine. Im going to (legally!) play my ass off!
regards from germany..
NPD does not track Digital Distribution at all iirc, so you will only learn what games are sold mostly from brick&mortar stores and Gamestops.
