Archiving Sins Of Solar Empire

Hi,

I have Sins and have pre-ordered Entrenchment and have installed the beta, however I now only see the icon for entrenchment in Impulse and when I archive the archive size is only around 95Mb. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Ideally I would like to archive each seperately.

Cheers

 Unless you turn off the (automatically on) option that says "overwrite archive on updates"  then you will only always have one arcive from the most recent update.  (that is to say only if you turn on (the automatically off) option that says to archive before update)

To uninstall entrenchment completely (in order to only install SOASE) you have to manually delete folders and manually edit your registry.  There are more specfic instructions in other threads dealing with compleatly uninstalling entrenchement.

my SOASE archive is 793,xxx KB in size, my entrenchment archive is 96,xxxKB in size.  I have 5 total archives none of which will unarchive on a fresh install of XP.

You may need to manually remove the game folder, and delete 2 Registry Keys before you'll be able to re-install.

Go to C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (or where ever you installed the game) and delete the main folder.

Then launch the System Registry (Start-> run, and type regedit)
Look for and delete the following Keys;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sins
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsentrench

For Vista 64 bit;
HKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sins
HKLM>SOFTWARE>Wow6432Node>Stardock>Drengin.net>sinsentrench

Then, reboot your PC and go back to Impulse and try installing the base game. Make sure it installs to 1.13 version, test it out before then installing entrenchment.

Hi,

Did as you said, I had no keys left over in my registry. I re-installed Sins from the net and archived, it was somewhere around 800Mb from memory, confirmed it was version 1.13.* then re-installed Entrenchment and have the same issue. The original Sins icon disappears and backup (which I am assuming is just for the Entrenchment expansion) is 96Mb.

This is not a big issue for me now as I archived after installing Sins and before Entrenchment, however it does seem to be a bug. It has only started happening since the last impulse update.

Cheers.
