Defaulting to Windows Classic every time

Hi All,

I can't figure this out...  I just purchased Windows Blinds, and yes... I had a free version installed previously.  I've tried everything I can think of...

*Installed via Impulse.

*Removed Win Defender and AV

*Ran a reg cleaner AND CCleaner

*Checked AERO and Nvidia settings

No luck...  I know I'm missing something, because the themes I downlaoded are still on there when I re-install... but I can't figure it out.

Help?  I also can't see all the test in my WindowsBlinds box for some reason... like the font doesn't fit.

I have to say... I'm pretty discouraged about my purchase thus far.

I tried... but I had an error "Cannot open install.log".   The tool refered to on the Stardock web site took care of most of it, and I manually deleted the rest.  After that I ran 2 different reg cleaners / cleanup tools before installing the new version.

No dice.

A+ on support Stardock... NOT.
End of frameboy0523's quote

The forums are monitored mostly by WC members and if you require 'official' Stardock support you should email supprot@stardock.com or contact them by phone.

I will forward this on to support and recommend that you still send an email and start a trouble ticket.

Try going to Start> Run.. in XP or Start>Start Search in Vista, type "regedit" and hit enter.  Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\ObjectDesktop\WindowBlinds

You'll want to make sure it is set to the following path:

32 Bit:  C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds
64 Bit:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds
(NOTE: If you installed WindowBlinds to a different directory, replace the above default one with your custom location)

If the path was incorrect, change it and then reboot.

If it is in fact pointing to this path, please try the following:

-Launch Impulse.  Right click on the entry for WindowBlinds and choose "Verify application"
-Impulse will check the integrity of the installed application.  You should be given feedback as to the state of the installed application.
-If errors are found, an update should be made available in Impulse.  You'll need to select another application and then reselect WindowBlinds to run the update.
(NOTE: This is a UI bug in Impulse, that should be fixed in a future update)
-Once the update completes, reboot your PC.

I have the full version of Windowblinds, and after explorer loads, it intermittently loads Windows Classic.  I don't know why.  Most of the time, Windowblinds loads fine, but about 20% of the time, it loads in classic, whether it be explorer or launching a program.  It bugs me, so I just exit the program and restart it so I can get the skinned interface.

My Windows Experience Index is only a 2.6 and Windowblinds still loads just fine.  But roughly about 70% of the time, Aero doesn't load properly.

I just wanted to give a little insight that you're not the only one who has problems with Windowblinds.  I hope that you fix your problem.    ^_^

I did open a trouble ticket...  5 days ago.

I heard back yesterday, we'll see how it goes.
