Winning

I enjoy playing Sins enormously, but I always find winning such an anti climax. There you are working hard to crush the last AI, and suddenly you're pitched into the win screen.

One change I would like to see is an option to explore the universe a la Age of Empires. It would be good to easily look around and see what remains of your enemies, and what remains unexplored.

Again looking at AOE the last AI always gave some feeble excuse for resigning, and I think it would be good if you got a whisper  from the AI offering surrender or withdrawal or something before you're pitched to the win screen.

Cool post :)

I agree...

It's certainly not something major or something that needs to be addressed asap but if devs find spare few hours this would be nice imho...

You sorta can already!  Just hit 'Keep Playing' on the win screen.  But that doesn't show everything.

The next best thing is to: Save just before you are going to win.  Then 'Surrender' and 'Keep Playing', and you can see everything, including "what remains of your enemies, and what remains unexplored".  Then reload, to complete the win.  (PS. its also a pretty big cheat, that can be used early in the game).

May the force be with you, Obi 1

actually, what he means is that everything is revealed (all planets, stars, and pirate bases) the moment you win.  this is possible in age of empires.

something else i would like to see from age of empires (well, its actually number three) is a fleet banner say, from the top or across the side.  and this would be for fleets only.  I find it quite annoying when late game you always have to scroll to the top of the empire tree every time you want to select a fleet, because it jumps you down to whatever planet they are at.  if you are trying to select multiple fleets, this is a real pain and slows you down considerably.  Age of empires manages to do this quite nicely without them getting in the way.  I can do without the planet list, but keep the reports on when they are under attack as a link to that planet.  and maybe a key to select all of one type of nit on the entire map would be nice (I like to link my Kostura cannons to a key, so I can rapid fire them at one planet)

(oh, and: hooray! another AOE player!)

You can unpin your planets and I think there's even an option to make them not auto-pin upon colonization too, if that helps.

yes, but its not really that the empire tree is in the way, (well, except when my uber fleet arrives at a planet and the dots take up half the screen) its just that its annoying.  and even with that, having different icons for each fleet (like a fighter img if mainly carriers, or a battleship icon if mainly caps, or a support ship icon if mainly support, etc.
