I tried to update again this morning and I still had to reinstall objectdock after updating it through impulse. It seems that impulse is deleting the program .exe file when it updates,

you guys should report this to stardock help, and to a mod. good post, extruckie. are you guys downloading beta stuff? drj

I have had problems with Impulse since i did the update. In my case it was automatic when I opened Impulse it just updated itself!

WindowBlinds updated fine and there was no update for ObjectDock.

Funny, I've installed every beta update since Impulse came out including Impulse betas and have not had a problem except it being slow in the beginning.  No program crashing.

I updated WB recently via Impulse.  Not noticing anything wonky.

Mine won't even download updates, even small ones (the 730kb update for theme manager). Even when I opened impulse it would get stuck downloading this neverending update, I could leave it running for hours and it would never finish, and thus couldn't access any of the preferences. Tried uninstalling the new beta and downloaded the setup from the site hoping it would be the previous version, and much to my chagrin it was still the new version. Can't see any options to switch servers or anything. Have had to use SDC to get any kind of updates.

The last update for ObjectDock was a month ago. 10/24/08

<sarcasm>Why don't you just go to www.stardock.com and download the updates directly, like you would for any other program?</sarcasm>

Because believe it or not, this method is more convenient...when it works properly. This new beta is the first time I've had problems with Impulse.

Impluse is a waste of space. I have no need for it.

Impulse has worked for me since its first beta so why would I NOT use it?I admit that some updates have broken things temporarily.I didn't use SDC much but surely there were bad updates there as well.I've also gotten bad updates from MS and other software vendors. They always get it right eventually, all that is required on my part is patience.Reporting the problem to support will get it fixed faster than complaining in the forums. My two cents.

I have used Impulse since the very first beta and havn't had a use for SDC since. No problems

UPDATE!!!!

The cause of the trouble has been located.  Impulse wants to install everything to the C driveby default.  If you try to
place any applications anywhere else, Impulse will update all the files and kill the startup.exe link of the application in the existing location.

My fix was to install all Stardock Applications on my C drive. Tech supportr says there is a way to change it but I had evertyhing moved and didn't want to bother reinstalling everything again.

Most apps install on C as default.  You can click on teh orb, then preferences, then folders to change all the settings.

Glad you solved your issue.

Why not just have a update button build in to stardock programs like other software companies do? Why must we download a bloatware programs to update?

Stardock never fixes OD+ any way 2.0 is not coming anytime soon. Windows 7 taskbar is od+ 2.0

Having to open up two dozen programs just to do updates... that's a really dumb idea. Impulse is a great way of co-ordinating everthing in just one package.

Uhm... It will only do Stardock stuff. You still need to open other programs to update them.

Why not use the PC as it was designed. Download the update and then run it. THAT will work with any version of Windows and any web browser.

that is a bunch of jarbled nonsense... no offense, but what the heck are trying to say....

Windows 7's taskbar is nothing like object dock, all it does is combine things into categories... object dock, adds as many docks as you want. tabbed, or not tabbed all over the screen.... not the same thing... and Impulse it better than an update button in the programs because I can update all of my programs at once, and believe me I have alot....  and if I had a guess OD2.0 is coming sooner than you think

The Tabs on top bug issues have been around since 1.5. Every time you ask about a damn fix or when the 2.0 is coming all they say is sorry it has been delayed delayed delayed.

They must hate OD+ the most popular program they have. They treat it like EA treated SimCity with little respect the way I see it.

You do not see everything they see.  Life is tough like that sometimes.

I too would like to see OD updated but they think they need to be doing other things right now.  If you trust them to make good apps (and you do) then trust them to make good decisions about the direection of the company.
