Double menus problem...

I just installed rightclick on my computer (Vista Home Premium x64, Swedish version). When I right click on the desktop it shows the standard vista menu first, and I have to right click again to show rightclicks menu. Is there something that can be done about that?

I appreciate any help on the issue. :)

Ok, "Minimum requirements" field in impulse is really "System requirements" when it comes to the application software... It's REALLY misleading, as minimum requirement would mean it'll work on anything better (like later versions of windows)... Hugely annoying, not to mention false advertising... :(

I've come up with a workaround that actually works fairly well... I assigned my middle mouse button to ctrl-§, then set the shortcut key for RC as the same. Now I can click the mid-mouse to get the RC menu to pop up. The only issue is that the broken right click functionality with double menus and all is still there....

PLEASE, Stardock... If you can't actually get RC to work with the right click on Vista 64, make an option to open the menu with only the hotkey (or open on middle mouse click would be even better).

Building a custom PC for my nephew, and the ability to customize the right click menu, and limiting his ability to access Windows features, was the only reason I bought this software. Thanks for false advertising StarDock.

Actually 'anything better' is where the issue falls down.  Can Vista be regarded as 'better'?...can 64bit [when either/both can be problematic with MANY programs, not just one?

Food for thought....;)

Excellent point!

My opinion is that vista is better, and it needs better hardware to prove it. It's just an opinion ofcourse, which in itself doesn't prove anything.

64 bit is undeniably better technology though, since it allows for faster computing. The fact that software don't use it properly is irrelevant.

Yes, Vista is very much better than the previous versions of Windows.  Yes, Microsoft changed some things that developers have to deal with, but the problem lies with the third party developers, not with the OS.  In some cases, the original software "cheated" the OS by not following the rules, so to speak.  It other cases the developers are just lazy or are working on other projects and can't be bothered with upgrading.  In most cases, though, it's just a matter of learning what needs to be changed, and changing it.

By the way, "better" in this case of system requirements is simply a numbering system, not a value judgement.  Like in Blackjack, "jacks or better" means cards with the ranking of jack or higher, it doesn't mean kings are "better" than jacks.

I'm currently waiting for fully working versions of RightClick and ObjectDock for Vista 64.  In my opinion, StarDock is too focused on the game side of things to even bother with utilities anymore.  And if that really is the case, it's sad.

If the same developers are doing the games and applications, it'll cause problems for sure.

I brought this to their attention in early 2007 when I installed Vista Ultimate 64bit.  It was never fixed and it never will be.  I just got another e-mail from them saying that it is being discontinued.  I am now on Windows 7 64bit but, haven't tried it yet.

Results in Windows 7 are mixed.....on my laptop running W7 x64 Pro it works fine....on my desktop running W7 X64 Home Premium it crashes explorer every time I right click on the desktop.

edit: in both cases this is on a clean install.....I install RC right after Impulse and before Windowblinds

Ok, semi-necothread revival...

I just installed RC on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and am getting this issue stated in the OP.

Ok, so, the official SD page for right click says..

Minimum:
  • Windows 2000/XP (Windows Vista is not supported)

Since you don't seem to want to make it work (or can't), how about at least putting correct information on the page for it. This is crap.>:(
