Pirate Cap Ships?

What would pirate cap ships look like? Or would they be able to steal the excisting race ships? I think they should have a cap ship that no one else has, as if they raid the WHOLE universe and have ships no one else has seen before.

That's a cool idea actually, reduce the standing fleet and gauss cannons at their base a tad, but add a cap ship with some unique abilities to make taking their homeworld a little more challenging.

Don't you think the idea of pirates charing blindly into the defenses of an empire is bad enough? :P

I mean Mass Effect thought it was a good idea and thats just full of horrible unbeliveable rubbish from hollywood.

Just say no.

You know whats weird...been playing games my whole life, I just don't see the point in mods..I play the games the way they were designed then I move on. There are to many great games out there to play then to squeeze every last drop out of a title. I'll play 1.1 when it comes out, but then I know the game has been given an offical once over by the people that created it.
Plus then I know there will be no conflicts, and I like to keep my machine lean and mean. :)

If you don't want to model new ships for them and just use TEC's, it's very easy to do this.

-The pirate base defense template is defined in the GalaxyScenarioDef file, so you can edit it to create however many (or few) defenses you like. This includes turrets and ships that don't leave orbit.

-The pirate base itself is a separate entity file, similar to other planets. So you can modify its hp, bonuses, etc.

-The pirate raids are defined in gameplay.constants. You can easily add capital ships for them to raid with.

-If you want new abilities for those capital ships, you'd have to make them of course and plug them into their ships. This would be the hardest part.

I only play the MODs that basicaly ARE new games, I don't need a few new units or some pretty graphiscs (regardless of game). If it offers new gameplay I can't get anywhere else I'll be all over it like a rain cloud over a sunny day.

Personaly I like to try my hand at modding to tell the story I wanna see happen but alas, I suck.

I like mods for the opposite reason. I like to leave the core game basically how it is, but love to make minor changes to stuff, like how many fighters there are in a squadron, how much damage beam defenses do, how much anti-matter a particular cap-ship ability takes, ect. Basically stuff that only very slightly effects core gameplay, and only when done to many ships/structures and such.

And that is why PCs will always be a better gaming platform to console. We can play what we want, not just whats given us.

I tend to stick to mods that aren't Total Conversions. But as long as the end result is fun, I'll play 'em.

True as far as I'm concerned.

I'd only agree with this because all computer nerds feel the same way. But I've been swayed by the beautiful HD and ease of pick up and play from consoles. I reserve comps for in depth gaming experience. Such as a rousing 10 hour game of Sins, or some Civ4, and even MMOrpgs if the mood strikes me.

Really it just comes down to the niche you fall into. I work a lot so my xbox360 gets more game time as of late.
