DeviantART V6 is here.

With a new deviated look.

http://news.deviantart.com/article/52608/

Our friends over at dA have busted their behinds to make yet another version of their great site.
Countless hours/days/weeks/months have gone into makeing the site even more convenient to use, and I know alot of us do check the site more or less every day.
I know, I do. :)
Listing all the changes would be pure madness and probably fill most of the frontpage, so you'll just have to go see for yourselves ;)

I've found it hard to navigate...learning curve all over again. I'm sure I'll get used to it though.

I logged into it last night and got confused...

still one of the most pathetic browsing experiences ever. DA is so slow i cant even see the changes due to the site not loading in any reasonable time at all. Seems bandwidth would be a wiser investment.

Yes very confusing at first. But it's basically the same without the drop down menu.

I hated the "new" front page...like I want to see nothing but a bunch of crappy new deviations. It was so much better with the channels view, showcasing a few new submits, popular, prints, and the DD's. Now the DD's are relegated to the bottom where they'll go largely unnoticed, and if you want to see the popular/prints, you have to click on those links.

I just clicked on the More dropdown in the toolbar, dragged Channels back into it (and browse and got rid of the crap I'll never use), and set that as my homepage for dA so I can have the same view as before.

So now it's more or less like how it was viewed before, but I'm not all that impressed with it. I don't like having my login/message stuff at the dead top, I almost overlooked it.

The one thing they REALLY need to fix is the comment navigation. It's impossible! There's no way to easily get to the last page, so if an article has over a thousand comments, you have to sit there forever and a day to get to the last page. FAIL.

It does take a few tries to get used to.
I myself find it easier to navigate now. :)

Are you a subscriber, Phoon?
If not, you're not getting full advantage of true speed of dA.
I'm easily using the full potential of my 20mbit internet connection (1.8MB per/sec) when downloading large files.
Plus navigating is a breeze ;)

Agreed, Bebi.
The first time I got on the site with new changes I thought; 'Wtf...... where's the top of the page gone?!'
At first I thought they were in one of their multitude of 'read only' modes again.

^Yeah same, it literally changed before my eyes. I went to view a DD and then BAM! Was like, WTF just happened here?!?

New look, same untimely and inadequate protection of author copyrights.

I totally agree. This is the same when viewing in the galleries. You have to click "next, next, next". If I get to page 20 and have to go do something else, I don't want to have to start all over when I come back... ;p

I think like any site they are trying new and different ideas to make it more "intuitive" to the user. For good or ill, i personally like the new format. Although i had pretty much the same reaction as Bebi, and Snowman. But i do ultimately enjoy their new version. :)

i did like the changes., but they could improve even more the colors....  ;p

Seems to me they have done as much as they can to make ads more visible to non-subscribers. I had an account all last year, no ads, but sure wasnt any faster. The ads are now under the Name, Messages etc, area. instead of at top of page..

yep. Still slow as hell.

I really like it!

I was visiting dA probably around half an hour before they changed the look...and I had to leave the PC for some time...I remember coming back and refreshing the page... :d Oh what a shock it was...

I like it. Will take a bit of getting used to but that's progress for you.........

OK just wondering what so great about deviant art i been there just a few times no matter what they do to it i don't get what's so great about it, what i hate about it,1.its slow,2.i get a string error on every page.3.pictures are to small to do anything with them as far as having any wallpaper out of them so what's so great about it, any of you guys sell your work there i mean do people really buy prints from there and how does that work and how much of a percentage do you get for each print sold, just wondering.

You need to actually browse the wallpaper gallery for that.
