Severun Overseer - Will it auto protefct the msot relavent friendly?

With the severun overseer I cannot seem to see what its protecting. Will it harden the armour of the clostest ship? or the most needy ship?

With the advent its much easier... u can see the radius of the shield and i assume its protecting all friendlies in the shield sphere area. Does the overseer protect all vasari ships in a radius?

BTW: if we had formations it would be a damn site easier to protect these support ships!

The overseer shoots a single bolt of matter at the ships that it's healing; so, no it dosen't heal all ships in a radius. I've usually noticed that it heals the ship in it's range that has the lowest HP, but I'm not sure if that's the same for other players.
If you want to see which ship it's protecting, watch it. When it uses it's ability, it'll fire a silverish bolt, and the ship that it heals will have a sparkly ring form around it for a short amount of time.

I hope this helps.

I see, well that sounds like nothing compared to the advent shield ship.

It will also show their target if you hold alt and select them. They basically just pick something that is at ~70% hull or less, as far as I can tell. They're very good if your capital ships are being focus fired, against random strike craft hits or AE effects, but rather useless against fleets of dps ships focus firing. They simply can't turn fast enough to use the heal, as they have to be facing their target directly.

You do have formations.

What you do is you set your fleet up, and then only issue commands to your flagship. All of the ships escorting the flagship will move in formation, and react intelligently (most the time) to commands you give to the Flagship.

Ie: You tell the flagship to attack an enemy fleet, specifically say, it's flagship. In this case YOUR flagship which received the order will move forward and engage. It's escort ships will decide whether or not to join in, based on what type of ship you are fighting. Ships will typically engage the ship they are designed to counter if in range, or the ship the flagship is attacking if their weapons are suitable enough to take it.

What makes people think there are no formations... is the engagement envelope. If it is set to anything other than hold position, the escort ships will break formation and attack within their engagement envelope. You can pretty much read "Hold Position" as "Hold Formation". Also, if you give an order directly to a ship or group of ships, it will override it's fleet commands and break to fulfill your order.
