Bootskin & HP, IT ain't Working!!

I have tried all 3 versions of Bootskin on my HP notebook.  The closest I have gotten it to work was with the newest version and I get the diagnostics screen where I have to choose The last Known working config.   This of course takes me back to the stock Windows XP boot screen.  There is an HP boot screen that is intermingled with the Windows Boot screen I cannot tell if it is generated by the system bios or if it is coded in the registry because it occurrs briefly just after the Windows XP Boot screen appears.  I do think that it is the culprit as I use the bootskin on other machines that do not have the HP boot screen and bootskin runs flawlessly.  I have also tried to hack the ntoskrnl file in the System32 folder using resource hacker and that produced even worse results as it would just hang never to go again until I re-installed XP.  If ayone hase in insight on this I would surely appreciate it!!

Thanks!!!! :)

due to variances in BIOS BootSkin might work on one and not another.

Depending on your BIOS, you might not be able to get Bootskin to work. You can try to use some other versions from the download page, but if none of them work I'm afraid there isn't much that can be done.

That's what I suspected. I am hoping that I can figure out how to disable the splash screen that HP has placed there. Thank you for your response.
