Online play isn't happening correctly. I can't seem to finish a match out without disconnection

I've been playing sins for a while now. I finally mustered up the courage to play online today.

I forwarded my ports and had everything working. Managed to connect to four different games over the course of this afternoon. All of them started and all of them lasted at least 45 mins. However, I'm yet to finish a game.

Randomly the game just drops everyone. We all end up in the lobby in a miserable mood due to the effort spent getting to a playable level in the game. It seems just when things are getting good the game decides I'm having too much fun and nukes me.

I'm wondering if this is a common issue. I was really excited to finally play multiplayer and I seemed to be holding my own on some level, however, having been unable to finish four different games this evening, I doubt I'll even waste my time in the future.

Note: My game isn't crashing, it's just disconnecting me from it (and apparently everyone else).

What am I doing wrong?

No matter how many times I refresh the technical forum my post isn't appearing. Couple that with the two days it took for my activation email to reach me and the slow load times on these boards... hardly impressive.

Positive note: Sins is an incredible game that has held my attention longer than any game I can remember in the last two years or so.

It may not be you, unless you're the one hosting. It sounds like whoever's acting as the host PC is having issues. The v1.041 hotfix coming out soon may address some of this.

This sounds like the host actually quitting and the game failing to find another host quickly enough.

What Yarlen refers to doesn't really sound like this is the case for your problem. The 1.041 hotfix will resolve a multiplayer desync issue, but that issue always results in minidumps/game crash and not a simple return to the lobby. Sins MP is P2P, so basic connection issues should only be between the players in-game, ICO itself is a simple matchmaker. Of course, I'm not sure what else is included in 1.041. ;)

The 1.1 patch will also introduce an optional new net code that will allow you to bypass router settings and that's likely to alleviate a bunch of hosting related issues for people who can't/won't make sure their router is set up properly.

Thanks for the response. I was a little agitated earlier. However, I tried one more game and managed to play it through.

Big thanks to Ironclad for handling the issue. I've noticed the communication between devs and customers has been superb.
