Suitable for slow thinkers?

There's obviously alot to love about Sins. But I've never been very good at real time games -- I'm more of a melee round, pause and think about the next move kind of gamer. (ala GalCiv) I've played a few real time games that have paced things slowly and steadily enough that I could keep up just fine. Any thoughts on whether Sins would be up my alley? TIA...

Have you tried the demo yet?

Sins has various speed settings that you can adjust to your liking (build speeds, research speeds, etc) so chances are very high that you'll be able to find a speed setting to your liking. In general, it is slower paced than the majority of more traditional RTS games as well.

You can win without microing your fleets, so not much thinking is required.

The thinking in this game (larger maps) are more about long-term goals (controlling a certain point) rather than short term goals (taking out his capital ship)

SINS HAS A "PAUSE" FEATURE. Click the Pause key at any time in single-player. It freezes the action and allows you to take a massive look around, issue queued orders, and generally play at your own pace. It's awesome if you're into micromanaging your fleet actions and hate losing ships, and I use it all the time.

So, yes, this game is right up the alley for 'slow thinkers'.

This is my first real attempt at a real time game and agree with Retro above. Using pause is a must for beginners to learn the ropes.

Also the games scalability to start out with locked teams and pirates off makes it very easy to learn.

As you progress you add more features learn them to turn on another one.

If you start out paying with locked teams, pirates off and set your opponents to easy aggression and use the pause you will be ok. Of course try the demo.

pengtzu I like to think longterm, and have massive enjoyable battles. I dont usually like traditional RTS games as I feel with sometimes limited amounts of build orders its all about the speed of the first few clicks which can determine how they game will go. I play sins though and I love it, it players much slower and in my view it is a good thing because wars are wars not 5 min afairs for the vast majority of the time.

Try the demo like suggested but I will be honest with you I had to play for up to 2 weeks before I could really appreciate the game. (Its funny you just bought this game and I just bought gciv 2 with all the expansions, I am playing them in order and Im doing the apocalypse campaign mission with the dreadlords, man they are tough!)

Excellent feedback. I've been lurking for a few days, and if the dialog on this forum is any indication of the game quality, I'm sure I won't regret picking up a copy. I will try the demo! Cheers...

I highly recommend you try this out sir... I came from the GC2 fanbase myself, it's very possible to have epic style games in Sins.
