OK Just got to ask!

 Just to curious not to find out! 20 minutes ago my new release Smoothy was rated at 4.5 stars now 3 whoa.. -1.5 in 20 mins!!
Now I know that this probably not really an issue but as my first 4.5 star skin I was very proud and it was just too big of blow too fast ,1200 domnloads in 24hrs and then boom !!!What happened???

Just a guess but I'd say a few people didn't rate it but 3 stars.

May of had some hit 2 stars while attempting to download and not bother correcting it.

happened to me as well once.

Say two people bother to rate your skin. One rates it at 4.5 stars. Then the other rates it at 2. you'll see a dramatic drop in your rating.I think the difference is larger then for example 10 people rating at 4.5 and 1 person rating at 2.

Just a theory....

Ratings even out the more people rate. Early on they can go up and down. Some like, some hate, 'tis the way of things.

I suspect someone wouldn't mention if a rating jumped up suddenly ;)

If the stars reflect the average rating given. A low rating would have a big effect on a skin with only a few ratings, and a smaller effect on a skin with lots of ratings.

They would be more meaningful if you could see the total number of ratings that were given.

I wouldn't put too much faith in the Star System Harley, It can act like it has a mind of it's own sometimes, although there may be a perfectly logical reason.. who knows.

The displayed rating is an average of all ratings receieved up to that point.  When you have a small number of ratings, that averaged score will sway drastically this way and that.  Once you hit a critical mass of ratings, it'll stabilize more or less "for good"

And I liked the earlier comment... no one ever asks about a sudden jump in their score  ;)

Point well taken.

Let me say , I never meant that I expected a superb rating.I was pretty surprised that it went to what it did!

Moreover after seeing where it went to then a sudden drop I was nervous something was wrong in the wba.

While still not my personal favorite it is still probably one of my best so far and when I thought something was amiss I felt I needed to ask!

I feel a jumped the gun so to speek!

theAVMAN ...when I see threads about anomalies in ratings I get curious and check them out.

Smoothy currently has 26 ratings within the 2 days it's been up....so there will have been quite a bit of 'movement' on the way...but there's now sufficient to probably remain pretty stable...;)

Harley ... are you satisfied with it? Think you did a pretty good job? Feel good about the job you did on it? How would you rate it?

In the end, that's the most important thing. ;)
