Sound Card & Surround Sound set advice needed

Since i dropped some coffee on my audio amplifier a few weeks ago, ive been forced to enable my huge speakers (JBL) directly to the sound card which does not sound good at all lol.

So instead of getting a new amplifier, i was thinking of getting a surround sound set for the PC for the first time hehe.

I need your help as im a total noob on this :d

Since most of you live in the US or else where then Denmark prices can difficult but im willing to use about 2000 danish kroner and thats about $400.

With my mobo Asus P5N32-E SLI i got this 7,1 card with it called SoundMAX, so its not onboard but i guess its still a bad quality one :NOTSURE:

Ive been looking at some surround sound sets like (i would prefer a 7,1 set, but it seems hard to get for a PC)

Logitech Z-5500 $267.99
Logitech X-540 $68.99

what i dont understand is the price difference, and what do i get for $200 more?

Would this sound card be worth getting? Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series - Retail $135.99

The z5500 should be digital etc. where the x540 are analogue....

I dont think the X540 does coax/optical in... just multichannel analogue... so no true digital audio- still fine speakers.

A buddy of mine has the Z5500s... he's never said anything bad about them.

Dont bother with the Fatality stuff, generally speaking... especially if the same card is cheaper without the name- If it's in the bargain bin for "x" reason go for it.

Been reading some more about the z5500, so i decided to buy that one and skip the soundcard for now :)
