Chantix helped me quit Po, but it took 6 months after I had cut from 4 packs to 1/2 pack.  I just didn't want to let go.  I've been free for seven months now and still want one every day, but it gets better.  Now put that money back for a new super computer.

I'm proud of everyone who believes enough in him/herself and is willing to take the hell of quitting with or without medicines. MAJOR kudos to all who genuinely try. It's a harder addiction to quit than heroin.  k6

Not to bring you down, but i feel no one, absolutely no one was a more dedicated smoker than me, i tried nicoderm patches lozenges, you name it, but Chantix came along (insurance wouldnt cover) its about 120 bucks for it, 2 packs a day here in MA in 14.50 so it doesnt take long to equal out, well the only side affects i had with it, were a lot of heavy duty dreaming, but i will say the desire to light up in the morning with my coffee and pc were gone, the only thing left was the habit part not the addiction part, so i havent smoked in almost a year, and i thank Chantix every day for that, once again, no one on this planet was more dedicated and loved smoking more than me, and if i can do it, anyone can, granted i really wanted to quit, which probably helped with it being psychologically prepared, also what helped was not talking about it, it kept my mind off of it, there is no doubt you can do it, no whatsover, motivate and prepare yourself mentally, whether it takes a day or a week, this helped me an awful lot, you have my full support with this one 100%, and dont let them beat you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say that.
I tried giving up too many times to count, including the 3 months back in the day,
where I actually did give up in Basic Training, but back then it was 'give up or else'!

Never tried any medical possibilities or anything else to help with giving up.
Then 1 day, three years ago, I was about to light one up, looked down at the ciggy in my hand,
looked at the pack, and quite literally said "F*** it", the smokes landed in the garbage,
and I haven't touched one since, and I haven't even been trying.
Perhaps because I haven't been consciously trying to stay off, is the reason I suceeded.

Nobody I know could believe at first I had given up so easily,
because I was a somewhat heavy smoker, up to one and a half packs a day.
But it wasn't long before everyone knew, it even went so far as a couple of them kept offering me smokes.

I have had a tradition since I can remember of a Cigar at New Years,  (this also helps with the Firework fun),
I still keep to this tradition, but since I stopped smoking, I almost choke every time I do it.

Now, if only I could get back to my military weight, I'd be good to go...

Chantix is one of those FDA approved drugs which can be used to get over smoking habit. It works on body by giving you the same feel good effect like smoking and hence reduces the craving for nicotine. You can have all the information on chantix here http://www.chantixhome.com/ This medicine should only be used in accordance with the instructions of a physician as there are various side effects which may vary from person to person and it includes change of taste, sleeplessness and many more. I have smoked for more than 10 yrs, but now I am spending a smoke free life from last 2 months. Thanks to chantix. Along with having this medicine, you should also have will power and feeling that you want to get over this habit.
