in game MP3 player/browser - unusual request.

Hi Guys,

I have a friend who believes that like silent hunter 3 or orbiter, every game should have an in game mp3 browser/player. He is buggin the hell out of me to ask whether this will be a feature.

Its an interesting request and one that probably would not require too much work.

The player would enable peeps to drop songs in directories and skip through them. I guess this would include the standard tracks.
Perhaps this feature could be unlocked when one builds a radio tower lol

In orbiter he has collected specific songs that are auto activated when he achieves an orbit. Think of Space Above and Beyond, songs in the fighter pilots cockpit.
He plays classical (the planets, david bowies major tom, things like that. Its really funny to see him achieve orbit.

Anyways a request for him and his quest to have every game worth its salt add this feature.

Oh and before you ask, he does not want to alt-tab or muck around to change songs.

regards,
Dest

well, you can always just add your tracks to the files in the game where it goes, or just play WMP in the background and get a keyboard with a skip key

There might be a TXT file with a list of what songs to play for what race. Go browse around if you have the beta ;)

Sorry guys, thanks for the help.
I did make it fairly clear that the mp3 feature must be in game. Workarounds don't cut it ;)
No subsititutes. Also this is kinda a running joke with a friend.

He says that no game is finished unless it has an in-game mp3 player and I have a bit of a laugh at his outrageous suggestion. He is serious though.

Not after work arounds, after a feature.

It's nearly the middle of December and the game ships in February. Do you honestly think this sort of thing is going to make it in?

It was really just in jest.
Its a running joke with the guys I LAN with...

the guy I'm talking about is a muso and he obviously loves his music, thats all.
He requested that I ask.... although I know its not gonna happen. I also think that an ingame MP3 player is an awesome idea though.
For really long games you can listen to docos aswell as music. Catchup on your RSS streams. Stuff like that, while being able to skip, fast forward etc. Alt-tabbing linda spoils everything just to skip until you find somethin you like.

I would love and in game music feature. I have some old scifi space movie sound tracks that I would love to que up for game action. Currently I just run an mp3 player in the background but one in game would really rule.

In-game MP3 player isn't going to happen. There's really no point since you can just run WinAmp or some other player in the background.

Silence in-game music, and run windows media player in the background -- the keyboard media controls let you pause, stop, play, and skip forward / back on the song!

If you use winamp or get a plug-in for WMP you can also do this with a standard keyboard :)

Good ideas, but like in silent hunter 3 can
you see what the tracks are in game?

Pfft. USB.

I'll keep my AT Omnikey 101, thankyouverymuch. When it comes to a duel, I assure you, I'll be glad I have that extra 6 lbs of keyboard.

Yeah but coming from me it sounds more cool. Besides I capitalized on it long before you did hence the reference - Sucks to be you.

Speaking of the G15, dont get the new model - It is a step backwards. The 2006-7 model is far better. The 2007-8 one sucks freshly regurgitated hot wet and steamy chunks.

Well that makes it easy.
