Why I like Sins.

I see Sins of a Solar Empire as being kind of like... Supreme Commander meets Homeworld.

Is this a good thing? YES!

Supreme Commander is a fantastic game, due to the pure scale and strategy involved in the gameplay. Only problem is, most people don't have the PC to run it!

Sins has the benefits, without the pitfalls. Sins runs like a total dream on my PC, with all the depth of strategy and scale of Supreme Commander. (and the handly camera!)

Homeworld is also a fantastic game and I love the beautiful spacebattles and intelligent targetting of ships.

Sins has this AND empire management.

I like zooming in and watching the battles happening, without having to do too much, but still being able to "micro" my Capital Ship abilities.

I love the Pirate Homeworld (base?), it looks awesome.

I like how there are many branches for you to take in Research, resulting in some seriously different playstyles depending where you go first.

I like being able to manage multiple planets and expand, upgrading them and defending them.

I like the fact that, the more planets you control, the less they buff your income due to them being further from your homeworld. This helps to avoid the "I've got more planets then you, therefore I win." issue.

I like the handy GUI and the way it creates a new GUI icon for each control group you assign.

I like the fact that just clicking on Crystal or Metal extrator places it in the correct place automatically.

I like the buildings like Broadcast Hub (correct name?), Trade Port and Refinery. I like the way they add different aspects to the game other than just pure war.

I like how the different ships have obvious different uses, such as the LRM frigate seem like they'd be a good ship for attacking Defensive Structures and Capital Ships.

I like the Scalability, not only in speed, but in size. Small maps --> MASSIVE MAPS... Few players --> LOADS OF PLAYERS... So it caters for everyone.

I like your mom. (What? Someone had to say it)

Anyway, backing away from the immature jokes;

The massive size arouses my intermiate feelings towards RTS.

How easy it is to manage multiple star systems

The reason i like Sins more then Supcom is that you actually have time to enjoy the game without being stressed. Tho you have the option of being abit stressed if your a micro maniac

Sins allows you to have soo many different ways of playing from the beginning compared to Supcom's beginning. Supcom sorta "tells" you how to build in a certain way within the first 5-10min, else you lose. I dont have that fear in Sins

You should read Blair's sticky "What do you like about Sins?" where alot of users have expressed what they like about it

btw what do you think of the Vasari? you like playing them? what you think are there plus and minus's and so on

Hehe, missed the sticky.

Firstly, at your SupCom comment. There were even picture diagrams for each map, telling you where to build first and the exact queue to get an optimum start. *sigh*... but after about 5 minutes, the differences really count. In Sins it's right from the start. (I used to go straight for population upgrade, but since it's already there now, I don't!)

I love the Vasari, they seem to be much more military orientated and have a completely different feel to the TEC. Much more Hit-and-Run.

They did seem a little unbalanced when I played, due to the fact that I felt like perhaps 2 or the Capital ships were much more powerful than the others and certain ships were almost useless when compared to others. Although I've bad on specifics, I'll have to go play a game tomorrow and come back to you on that.

Their ships seem to include only a few direct damage ships, whereas most of them are about electronic warfare and control.

I feel a bit uneasy with Vasari in the early stages of the game, as their early upgrades seem to be less obvious (which to choose?) than TEC's and it seems like the Vasari have an obvious disadvantage in the early game.

I'd recommend that a new player start with TEC and get very familiar with them first, before using Vasari. I think it's more of a faction that will shine in the hands of skilled players.
