WB6 Applying Classic After Reboot

It seems that the past two beta updates for Windowblinds in SDC seem to break Windowblinds upon reboot. Everytime I've went to apply a skin afterward it only applies the classic theme.

I had to uninstall then reinstall the app both times. I don't know what the problem is but I'm getting worried I'll hit my activation limit here....

are you going for straight update?

or downloading the beta to archive 1st?

I had issues with autoarchiving, then just archiving that which was already installed - so for a while now I've been downloading straight to archive, then uninstalling the version running, reboot, restore the new archive, reboot

No archiving, I loaded up SDC and saw there was a WB update and installed it. When I rebooted the classic skin was applied and no matter what skin I chose nothing happened. The default Vista theme (Aero) was the only one I was able to reapply.

This happened with the update the other day too. I had to uninstall, reboot, reinstall and reboot again for things to work properly. It's not a really bid deal for me, im just worried I'll trip the activation limit and thats never fun...

yeah, I'm seeing more issue with updating and Vista than with XP

try the archiving next time

I'm assuming you're on Vista x64 because I have the same issue, however, I've never needed to reinstall WB?

Once you update it then reboot, just open SDC again and there will be another update which is the current one that you thought you just downloaded. Anyway, just update it again and then reboot...all will be fine.

Again, this needs to be looked into, though.

I had the exactly the same issue with the WindowBlinds update this time (on Vista64bit too).
I can't remember how it was last time, but this time I updated WB and after the next reboot, Vista started with the classic (aka Win98) "skin", and with the WB-control panel open.
Whenever I tried to apply a skin nothing would happen at all. The only way to resolve the problem was to uninstall WB6 - reboot - and reinstall WB6. Rolling back to a previous version of WB didn't resolve the issue either.

I have the same problem with XP. UPgraded from WB5, but was unable to apply any skins. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still nothing. Going back to WB5.

I have the same problem with XP. Upgraded from WB5 and saw Classic skin, none of the other skins worked. Uninstalled and reinstalled WB6, but did not help. Got fed up and reinstalled WB5, but still the same problem. WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 5 (5.51 (build 97 x86))

After a second reboot I received a warning that Antivirus/antispyware may be bloking the installation. I unloaded F-secure 7 and tried one more install with WB6 - And this time it worked!

email support@stardock.com to create a case/ticket/whatever.  Then you can be sure they are aware.

I supported a ticket 4 days ago, still unanswered =/

Have to ask the question, could all this be because WB6 can't find the skin where it expects to find it? Have you moved WB6 files around?

No either

When I updated to WB6, it created a new folder "Stardock" in the "My computer" "Shared files" folder, that is where it is looking for skins. I have not been able to change it back to the install directory, opened a ticket. Backing up to an archive did not help.

the new location is where the skin files are supposed to be stored, not in the install folder. microsoft pretty much demanded that be the case.

I'm still running XP Pro, and they use to be in the install directory. I'd rather not have that all in the root drive, but on my other drive with the install.
