Installing WB 6 problems?

this worked for me to fix it. it might work for you..

after installing WB 6 for the first time tonight. I had a problem it showed WB6 was installed but the version in WB config window still showed 5.5 and it would not apply any skins at all..

after much hair pulling I uninstalled 5.5 and 6, thinking maybe 5.5 messed up the 6's install...nope.. just installing 6 left me still stuck with 5.5 but with the newer interface and skins from 6, and still no skins would apply.. after many attempts at uninstalling and reinstalling i tried to go back to 5.5. no Dice. i saw the old interface now..but it still wouldn't apply a skin...so i again installed WB6 and whamo now im running WB 6 and all the skins are working...

my fix = uninstall all WB versions then reinstall 5.5 then WB 6. it worked for me, it may work for others...who experience the same problem...

I appreciate you having shared your problem and apparent fix. This will hopefully help others that may experience this problem.

My suggestion for when installing a new major version of any app is to uninstall, restart and then download and install the newer version. I know that sometimes if an app is uninstalled and then a newer version of that app is installed before the system is restarted, certain files of the older version that were set to be deleted on reboot (as they were in use) will then be deleted when the system is restarted, which can leave you with files from the newer version deleted.

I can't say I have run across this particular type of problem, but am glad to hear you got it worked out

The History information for WB6 is very clear - WB5 should be uninstalled and the system rebooted before installing WB6.
