Fires in SoCal

If we have any members in SoCal I hope you are OK. I heard we might be sending Oregon National Guard troops to help put out the fires.

There's ash falling around everywhere. I'm right below the Lake Arrowhead fire (foothills area). This whole place went up in smoke in the Old/Grand Prix fire in 2003 (we weren't living here at the time though).

It's SoCal's season......ours doesn't start for a few months yet.

One of the 'fun' things Victoria [Oz] has in common with California - the two worst places on the planet for bushfires....

Hey Boss, I feel you on that one. The NFL's San Diego Chargers has to move their practice to Arizona!

How's that for a commute?

Ok...this seriously sucks. I can't even connect to Stardock IRC now, the connection attempt keeps timing out. And on top of that...I have to use the "Go Advanced" to post a reply because the textbox isn't there (FF and IE)! WWW Link Site is loading really slow too...other sites seem to be fine though. Why WC of all them to go crappy with. >_<

The damn fires are screwing with my net...waaa!!

I'm replying to you from my job with Kaiser in Livermore, I live in Stockton, 6 years removed from L.A.

I'm a diehard Rams / Raiders fan from the 60's when guys use to play for the love of the game. However I do my skydiving out of San Diego at Brownsfield airport not too far from where your son goes to school.

Tiny planet!

I was born and raised in southern Calif.  Been through the fires, earth quakes and the brown burning sky that covers LA.

nekkid hug???

Seems like they go through this a lot. Probably why I didn't see much for trees when I was stationed in San Diego. Everybody stay safe.

Reminds me of a story.......from the fires we had in 1998. A few days before they evacuated Flagler County I was fishing at New Smyrna (less than 20 miles from home) with a friend on a Friday evening and the radio started listing all the road closures. By the time the list was done we realized in order to get home we'd have to drive to Jacksonville then across to Lake City then south to Wildwood then west to Deland to get home. Something like 400 miles.

I ended runnning a road block and drove thru some crispy areas but made it home.

Please, everyone be safe, don't be foolish. If you need to evacuate do it.

"I'm On Fire" by Van Halen and Bruce Springsteen, "City's Burning" By Heart, "Fire" By The Ohio Players and Jimi Hendrix, "House Burning Down" By Jimi Hendrix, "Fire and Ice" By Pat Benatar, "Burning Love" By Elvis, "Fireball" By Deep Purple!

Yeah, the list would never end!

Insensitive? Maybe. But it is what it is!

I'm just glad we all aren't rocking to Graham Central Station's "Earthquake" too!

Born & raised in WLA. Lived up in Running Springs for a while. In Topanga we had average of 65 arson-fires a month. "Oh, look! See how pretty the red fire-retardant looks in the glow!" "Boy, check out all the fried rattlesnakes on the road!" "But, officer, we really do live up in there..."

Already had one snow here...

West LA to Running Springs to Topanga, that's some bouncing Seldom!

People don't realize that Los Angeles is as big as some States and Calif is a very large Country!

All jests aside, good thoughts and paryers are going out.
If you evacuate to Houston, drop a line.  Maybe it's time for a meet-up.

WOW!

You know the truth about the towers!!

Sadly if you take the tour today the story has progressively changed over the years to the point where everything we ever learned about Rodia isn't even mentioned the way we were taught.

I took my sons there and the tour guide started talking and I was like what in the hell are you talking about?

I guess that's why they call it His-story

FYI: It was the Disk Jockey from radio station KGFJ Montigue The Magnificent who started the term "Let Watts Burn, Burn Baby Burn" in '65. And the people went and did it! The '65 riots started on 103rd and Grape St, I was living at 105th and Compton Ave.

I think we went a little off subject here, but then when don't we.

Just saw on a Fox News feed that central California had something like a 4.5 earth quake yesterday. Hate to think this way but what else can happen? Oh, I know, your Governor make another movie!
