This comes from Kafka, out of the book called: Franz Kafka: The Complete Stories
Now The Sirens have a still more fatal weapon than their song, namely their Silence. And though admittedly such a thing has never happen, still it is conceivable that someone might possibly have escaped from their songing; but from their silence certainly never.
I first read this quote in Carl Sagan's Contact. It intriqued me so much I did research on Kafka, and since finding the entire story of it and reading more and more of Kafka... I have since fell in love with is writing.
