Can I recover my old version of Control centre?

I know it's old and I know that there are supposed to be wonderful new things out there but they don't do what I want them to (at least I can't get them to).

I'm in the middle of a rebuild, my old system has a running version of Control Centre 1.92 (the last build that I liked). Stardock central for some reason thinks 1.95 is installed (when they added support for the virtual screen gadget things).

Now I've got a new OS built, I have the old 1.92 files but starting it gives an initialisation error and produces a weird window which seems to have lost it's virtual screens. This happens if I start it from the original place on the C drive or the new place on the P drive (boot drive is now the E drive).

The reason I like 1.92 is the locked windows, I have 2 monitors, this allows me to lock the TV, baseball match or whatever else I'm keeping an eye on on the second monitor and it follows me as I wander round the virtual screens on the first monitor. Incredibly useful. It also means I can start a load of apps in the start folder and I'll find them neatly arranged where I want them.

Any ideas gratefully received, I can't find any virtual screen programme which works as well (from my point of view and I've tried a LOT over the last few days). All the fancy stuff on the new VD may look good and may be very clever but they don't do what I need.

It's most frustrating.

email support@stardock.com . . they should be able to assist.

Sadly not, ignored the question I asked and suggested trying the demo version of ObjectDock without any suggestion as to how it would poroduce the result I wanted with locked windows.

A completely inadequate response to a fairly specific query.

I'm now waiting for a reply to my response but to be honest without any real expectation of success.

did you archive the running version, move archive to new and then use SDC to restore archive?

Nope, SDC thought (thinks, I still have the old system running if I boot to that disc) I had 1.95 installed (I archived and can recover that), it's 1,92 I'm trying to get back.

I haven't quite figured out how the versions got switched in SDC.
