Stardock is pleased to officially announce that the beta of WindowBlinds 6 is now available for users of Object Desktop.  WindowBlinds 6 represents a whole new generation of Windows skinning with advanced new features such as animation overlays, blur glass effects on both Windows Vista and Windows XP, user created sub-styles, full font control, explorer backgrounds, complete Windows Vista skinning, faster performance, and much more!

The final WindowBlinds 6 will include 5 brand-new skins created by Stardock Design (a team up of many of the top skinners of all time including the Pixtudio team and Skinplant teams combined) to help demonstrate some of the new skins.

More features and information will be released as the beta moves forward.

Runs perfectly on here. So far, the Diamond skin is awesome. The blurring effect is great and works perfectly with video overlays (thru MPC). I'm now anxious to see how the other skins work with this new effect. No bugs to report for now.

I love the leo skin. So incredibly smooth... its a serious step up here engine-wise, you can tell!

I renewed my OD subs as it said we get a special free extra skin- I hope that is still the case!!!

Stardock Central's refresh today should stop it from prompting customers with only WB5 installed to upgrade while we're doing the betas with OD customers.

When will it be Available to people with Standalone versions of WindowsBlinds.

Users with WindowBlinds 5 stand-alone will be able to upgrade to WindowBlinds 6 upon release for $14.95. Users who purchased WindowBlinds 5 after February 1, 2007 will be able to get WindowBlinds 6 free.

I love it!

I was pleasantly surprised with the animations in Molten, but I ended up settling with Leo at about half transparency.

Little info for those who use MSNPlus, make sure you tell Windowblinds 6 to not skin that program or MSN Messenger. I couldn't use Plus unless I changed the WB6 Settings.

Still loving 6 though!

Love it, especially the ability to adjust the transparency level. One comment though - with skins that have a taskbar that doesn't stretch the entire width of the screen (Diamond for example) - if the Vista sidebar is running on screen, you can see where the transparent end of the taskbar is beneath the sidebar. This has been an issue since vista came out, any plans to fix?

The sidebar won't change here either after selecting the included one and clicking apply.

No problems here on Windows Live Messenger Beta 8.5 and Messenger Plus! Live.

You've gotten my attention

@ Frogboy

I was told that the new Object Desktop 2008 was coming soon.

Would it be simply better to wait for the 2008 version or just get the 2007 with free upgrade to Object Desktop 2008?

Share the light!

What are the advantages and disadvantages?
