Objectdock won't let me "Safely Remove Hardware"

..it has a file handle open for the recycle bin.

Often, when I try to unmount one of my USB drives with the Safely Remove Hardware icon located in the system tray, I am told that the drive can't be stopped.

I just took a look with the SysInternals Process Viewer and I find that it's ObjectDock, with a file handle open to the Recycle Bin that's causing the issue.

Short of disabling the recycle bin for this drive (which I don't wanna do) is there anything else I can do to get ObjectDock to release the file handle safely?

LOL . . I've always ignored the Safely Remove Hardware.  Never had a problem.
Just don't pull USB drives mid-write and you should be fine.

While the OD lock is almost certainly nothing to worry about, it does have a negative side effect. That being creating a "cry wolf" effect. The user now knows he'll get that warning every time, and will have to just start ignoring it. That means he might at some point ignore a valid warning and lose data.

It's a bad thing. Question is whether OD can maintain its recycle bin status without this lock.

Does removing the recycle bin from the dock fix the warning?

Unfortunately, I need to use the "Safely Remove" icon. If I copy files to an SD card and don't shut it down properly, my MP3 player won't see the last group of files that I moved to the card.

This doesn't happen all the time, so I don't know if it's related to the Recycle bin being on one of my docks.

Currently fighting with my hardware so I'll have to put off troubleshooting this further.

Removing the Recycle bin from the dock does it! I just had the same problem and your comments here did help me find the devil. Thanks.
