Weather Docklet does not work

Weather Docklet by Jeff Barmann Version 1.6 and Stardock

After a recent update I was hoping the weather docklet would updated. It has !!! But it still does not work.I tried Brisbane Australia I tried Oceania Brisbane Australia. No Good.
Maybe it only works in the US. Pity I do not live there. Neither do a lot of your customers
Global what's that?

after i installed 1.9 i removed my weather docklet (which was working as before but didn't do the fly out forecast for some reason), but when i went to the add new list the option to add new weather docklet wasn't there. It's not in the dock settings docklets menu either, even though the files are all still there in the docklets folder.

not sure if this is related, but i'd like to figure it out.

I am also in Australia (Sydney as it happens) and it won't work for me either - nor will any overseas location work (eg New York, New York etc).

After doing some TCP/IP packet sniffing during updating of the weather docklet so far all I've found is that the HTTP (and some TCP) requests from my PC are being marked with bad checksums in the TCP portion of the packet. There seems to be no reply from the weather server so I'm guessing the requests are being ignored because of the checksum error.

The checksum error was flagged as possibly being due to checksum offloading (i.e by the NIC) so I switched this feature off & tried again & the checksum errors in the packets disappeared but otherwise no improvement .

I am by no means expert in this so I have no idea if this is a red herring or not...

Doesn't work for UK locations either    It works if you type in a US zip code, otherwise, piffle...

I also have the same problem, and it does not show my home town (Kumamoto,Japan).
I tried the accuweather.com home page (http://home.accuweather.com/index.asp?partner=stardock), and it also can not show my home town page by searching function of its top page.
But by retrieving "Enter an International Location", I can get it!
I think this is by the weak retrieving function of accuweather.com, and so I think you should change other weather pages!

Won't update for meeither (Taipei, Taiwan). I hope this issue is fixed soon as I am used to having a weather docklet....even the older form without flyouts would do. As it is now, just cant even get it to update like the older version always reliably could and would.

doesn't work for China, UK, Australia, etc., but works for Japan and Germany
My Mac, however does, using the same database which is accuweather, and I can get many small towns' information.

But, another issue is, I found the weather info from accuweather is not accurate, but weather .com is, however, not for many small towns..

It won't work for me either - in Coniston, Ontario, Canada. I've tried a dozen different codes. It just won't update. Says "Location not found". Frustrating!!!!

Try using this in the location box  -  Coniston, ON

It doesn't work in Hong Kong either.
But I guess it is the zip code problem. I tried CIxxxx as location code, it does give me some cities in China. Any suggestion?

For UK cities you have to type "United Kingdom" as the language. It's very particular about the format.
For instance:
London, United Kingdom (works)
London, UK (don't work)
London, England (don't work)

However, I was trying to help someone on IRC that wanted to add Stockholm, Sweden. And I found that if I went to the AccuWeather website and typed in "Stockholm, Sweden" it gave you 3 different options. http://wwwa.accuweather.com/world-city-list.asp?partner=accuweather&locCode=stockholm,%20sweden

* Stockholm, Sweden (Jamtland)
* Stockholm, Sweden (Skane)
* Stockholm, Sweden (Stockholm)

And you can't type in parentheses into the weather docklet so you can't specify which one.

I think the docklet either needs to be able to pick up the different options when typing in a city, or allow for an URL to be entered which contains the data.

beautifully articulated Thomassen..worldwide the 'acceptable' format seems to vary

I live in Worthing,UK but the nearest place I can get weather for is Brighton UK....twenty miles away.Different county,different weather.

...worldwide the 'acceptable' format seems to vary - 'city/country' no longer work nor do the old weather codes, in my case CAXX0297...thx to Hankers being a Canadian he unlocked my dilemma but for other international users, Thomassen, you have unlocked the 'format' for them

now Stardock Central is getting all freaky after the Objectdock update
failed to validate your ObjectDock Plus registration information...please verify you have entered your e-mail address + serial # correctly
have been using the freeware version of this app since '04 + have purchased many superb Stardock products that enhance my laptop's aesthetic functionality considerably, but this error msg gives me pause for concern

well Bobby...all I can advise is to try finding your weather code for Worthing...hopefully something will materialize in that regard...btw, London must be fun on the weekends at least, right

Nice job thomassen   It's working now, though When I type in Sheffield (the fifth largest UK city) it comes up with Barnsley (a small town near Sheffield) - kind of insulting at best.

Unit description is still confusing - English/Metric. English is metric... The other (F) is Imperial
