I would love to see a gallery for all of the stuff that is posted as 'someone else's work' and just put it all in there, whatever it is. There, you can split it into categories (walls, boots, etc.).

If the work being posted is originally created by a non-member and is posted by a WC member, I think it needs to be separated from the original work of WC contributor's.

I realize this will 'piss off' some people...that's not my intent. I also realize that this would involve defining 'other people's original work' and 'altered and/or improved on' and/or 'adapted for a specific proggie' and/or of course ports. All should include permissions and that they are included should be posted in the description.

It just doesn't seem right that someone gets ratings, points, etc., for work that someone else did..whom is not even a member of the site. I think if it is going to be posted here, it should have it's own category to distinguish it from everything else...no ratings or points..and not be allowed to consume front page space that can and should go to original works of member's. (Not that I have specifically seen anything 'not-original' on the front page)

Hey Po' my $.02 worth. I tried uploading some of your walls here at the site and they kept being rejected. I told them they accepted these same walls when you submitted them. Sheesh go figure huh?

Even if they say they have permission.. doesn't neccesarily make it so. Hopefully the whole thing won't end up like ThemeXP where every second item was a rip with included "permission" or not even that.

Although I can understand WC wanting all the content it can get its hands on, this sort of thing leads to bad quality, accusations, arguements. I for one would vote for integrity's sake to only allow Original works or "obvious" official ports.. and not an uploading free-for-all.

I totally agree, but seems the decision has already been made. What happened to quality over quantity?

I don't think that the conclusion being drawn (Quantity over Quality) is the end result.

I think that some people are taking advantage of a situation that will shake itself out.

Remember, the goal is to get the best art availabl ehere at WC.  As always, the admins and mods will need the help of the community to alert them of problems and be role models of the expected behavior.

I am coming from a different perspective. I am a reader and a downloader. I rarely comment. But in this case I would like to. Finding this site and Stardock is what I longed for. I consider skinning an art form. Their are so many talented artist here I rarely download from other sites because I think we have the best talented skinners here. I look at the quality of the skin period. I am not a go with the crowd to download just because their are a 1000 downdoads. I look at originality the unique quality that went into the making of a skin plus the time and effort that was but into making that skin. So my point, all and all is I agree with you Po. If I wanted someone elses work I would download it from another site!!!

Collage, Collage2, and Rainy all have txt files in the zip that say the photo's are not hers..nothing further on source or permission.

Purple Flower has a 'umark lite' watermark on it.

And that boot skin is still up as well. (?)

Ah, my coffee fetching friend, you have more faith than I. I don't think it will 'shake itself' out. I think it's going to require a lot of help. IMHO I've been wrong before. I thought that Stevie Nicks would marry me before you got a job here.

As the FNG, I'm leery to take action without some oversight.  (I barley know how to make the coffee.)  I have pointed out the walls in question to the powers that be and await a response the same as you.

Dialog such as we are having here helps . . . distill the issues and concerns and benefits us all.  it becomes part of the shake-down.

I have more to say, but Stevie wants me to come back to bed.
