Multiplayer

I looked into this game, rather late I might add. I have NO IDEA how this game got past my radar but whatever.

I don't seem to see any kind of multiplayer from the site. This there any? Or do they plan to make it? It's hardly a scarcely-known fact multiplayer extends the life og a game indefinitely if done right. Half-Life is a good example.

no multiplayer... but extensive testing, and good programming, have created an AI that is just as good. Also you will be able to download updates from the metaverse to the AI to have it play more "human".

You can also compete by uploading your results to the Metaverse.

The problem is that multiplayer is very difficult to do right withour breaking single player (mainly as a time/resources/manpower shortage, but often out of apathy as well). One reason I don't play RTSes often.

I believe one of the reasons why multiplayer isn't an option was that it would take way too long between turns. Can you imagine waiting around for an hour or two waiting to see what the other 5 guys had in mind for this turn? (Remember, this is turn based.)

So set up PBEM games like I did in SMAC.

That's not really a bad solution, but in my case, I'd probably sit around all day clicking the refresh button on my email client. ;)

In my opinion, that's the best way to play any multiplayer game, but I haven't heard of people actually playing PBEM, even when the potion is available (with the exception of fans of Stars!, which I probably should have expected to overlap somewhat here).

PBEM would be great! I thoroughly enjoyed playing Stars! that way, and Gal Civ is a very similar game. PLEASE!!! :sniff!:
