Am I correct in understanding this?

Am I correct in assuming that Dark Avatar isn't going to have a proper brick-and-mortar release? Its a shame if it's true; the bulk of things people have been asking for, and no morally-acceptable away to get it for those pesky gamers who buy their games at game stores.

Dark Avatar, as a single product, is not. However, GalCiv2:Gold, which includes both the base game and DA along with a $10 rebate for existing owners of the original game, will.

The reason for this is that a small company such as we are can't easily get two different boxes for the same game on retail shelves at once. So instead of putting DA out in place of GC2 and leaving newcomers out in the cold, we've got the Gold Edition so anyone can join in.

Wow, there's a $10 rebate? I did not know that, and subsequently will be buying DA a lot sooner than I thought.

Do we get a $20 rebate if we already own both?

no, but you do get a t-shirt that reads, "I bought DL and DA twice and all I got was this stupid shirt."

Excellent. DA has so much of what GC2 should have had in the first place, I will gladly wait for it to be in the stores.

An understandable, but an unfortunately unnacceptable situation regardless. Good to know I'll see it in stores.
