The Battlestar images have been made in an external application or two. i am sure the guys will be happy to tell you which programs they used etc.

This seems to be a good place to ask for help on a particular ship design. I'm trying to, more or less, 'copy' the Haulmaster long-range freighter pictured in the second post of this thread, in the sense that I'm trying to design a ship with a very large, flat hull. I just can't wrap my mind around the right parts I need to get all those flat beams connected as they are in the picture. Does anyone have any theories? I PMed Bingjack about it, but I'm curious as to what others have in mind.

Generally my attempts to create a flat-topped ship like that end up terribly inefficient (though that's not saying the Haulmaster is any better) or the parts just don't connect right and end up jagged and lumpy, whereas the Haulmaster is actually rather streamlined in how flat and seamless it looks.
