in 1.4 what are all the significant random events?

Hi
I have been seeing posts regarding a few interesting random events - probably for DA mostly tho.

What random events of any significance can happen in DL?

Going from memory there's:

The assasination event; 2 versions( with or without vengeance ships)

The ultra drive event; 50% boost to ship speed across the board

The double reproductive rate event.

A couple of different ones that effect your influence levels( both good and bad)

One race gets ultimately more powerful due to precursor artifact discovery.

The precursor Ranger discovery.

The economic prosperity event; not sure of the percentage of boost on that one.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head this early in the morning. I'm sure others will add more.

There are also precursor Corvette class ships.

A single major race splits in two from rebellion, forming a new minor.

A minor race breaks off, taking some planets from all evil civs.

There are events that give a soldiering bonus, opportunities to get some cash, I think theres some that effect morale and research bonuses, lots of things really.

What you are probably seeing discussed at the moment are the mega events which are a new feature in DA. Huge Pirate invasions, Dread Lord incursions, galactic plagues, Precursor drones going active and attacking everything, all generally apocalyptic stuff to totally shake up the balance of power in a game.

No, all of those are the random events that occur in DL.

They are not the events (as in, alignment choice events) you get while colonizing a planet, but the events that randomly (semi-randomly?) occur at different times in the game.

Question- does the player ever get the Precursor becoming ultimately more powerful event- or just the AI, I've never gotten it.

I still think we could have more random and mega events in GC though.

there's also the new planet events (not to be confused with the UP vote on who a new planet should belong two) - two versions, one boosts all zero PQ planets to 4 or 6 or so, and the other to 12.

there's also the one that boosts the level of all habitable planets in a system (haven't seen that one too often).

i'm really looking forward to mega events.

Thanks for the information everyone

Player never gets it. As a player, you have the capacity to become increasingly more powerful over time - to a far greater extent than an AI or an AI with this event.

I have never seen this event have any noticable impact on a game anyway. I have tried extending a game till i'm blue in the face just to see what happens eventually after this event happens... as far as i can tell, no civilisation ever becomes noticebly more powerful than usual during the course of a came after getting this event.

Having said that, i would actually like to know how this event does actually affect a race?

I think that I read somewhere that it gives a 1% increase per turn across the board to the civ that gets it.

I had that event last week, the Altarians got the bonus.
I played through a couple game years and still did not notice any great advantage.

Does that include ship defence/attack/hitpoints/speed?

The normal 'increasing threat' event in standard GC2 only grants a bonus to one ability per turn, AFAIK, so it generally isn't much of a problem. There is a mega-event version in DA though that increases ALL abilities each turn.

Sounds good.

This is the event to which I was referring. I seem to get this event in every game I play- three of the last four, anyway. It has never been any kind of problem for me. The advantages it gives accumulate so slowly that the civs receiving it are either in serious decline, or out of the picture entirely long before they can get any type of real edge. It could, however, be a game-changing event. IF the event spawns early enough, and IF the civ that receives it is far enough away from me to make it unlikely/impossible for me to deal with them for enough time, and IF the civ does well with it's strategies and thrives, then: I could potentially find myself at odds with a civ that owns more than half of the galaxy, and has the power of the Dread Lords. That would mean...game over.

Actually, it would be pretty fun at that.

Is there any way to turn these events off? Some of them alter the game so much that it's ruined. How do you turn off the particularly obnoxious ones?

For that, you would need to check the modders forum. I am sure there would be plenty of pissed of people that would have already 'fixed' it.

yes there's an option to turn them on and off but you can't choose which ones you turn off (when you start a game it's with the options for blind exploration no tech trading etc..)

btw i love the new DA mega events   they rock hell

How often do they occur anyway? can you expect to see one every game or every fifth game etc etc?
