What happened to changing shellstyles?

I just reinstalled my Windows on a fresh hard-drive and reinstalled Windowblinds. In the past I was able to change just the shellstyle and it would change the commands available within an explorer window and either move them to the top or the bottom of the window as horizontal.

When applying a skin and choosing another shellstyle it would not affect the taskbar or the start menu, the only thing it affected on my computer at least was the horizontal or vertical shell within explorer windows and the logoff/shutdown boxes.

I used "Vista Plus v2" for the windows and application skinning and "Vista Theme" for the shell because I like the full menus it gives but horizontally instead of vertically.

Now with this newer beta version of Windowblinds you only have the option to change the taskbar and startmenu. I realize these are parts of the shell also but in previous releases they would skin with the main skin chosen and only the explorer windows and logoff/startup were affected by specifying a different shell-style.

The only thing I can think of is that Windowblinds was not working properly before but has been fixed but I liked it when it was broken. How do I get the older version so I can do what I used to do or is there a way to do it with the new version?

I guess you are agreeing with me Bichur by bumping the thread, but anyone else have any ideas or anyone from Stardock would be appreciated. I was able to revert back tho the last release version which still has shellstyles in it, but not the advanced functionality that is in 5.5.

If you have SDC - check to see... 4.6 still shows as available for me

I suspect CES will delay responses here from SD staff for a bit. Shellstyle skinning is still supported, but only in the standard XP location (left task pane), it appears.

It took me a while to find it too, but you can select which shellstyle to use in the Desktop Properties > Appearance > Advanced section for the XP Overrides that control the shellstyle and taskbar stuff. I hope that's what you were referring to.

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for. It is so weird that you have to bring up desktop properties to change the shellstyle instead of doing it within Windowblinds.

Is there a way to skin the shellstyle that allows you to skin the screen where it says "system tasks"? John

I'm with you RBCC. I can't get the task pane to stay the way I want it..??
Anyone have an answer? Thanks!
