selectively changing icon sizes

I was wondering if IconX can change the size of individual icons. For example, I use IconPackager, and I can make icons 64x64- the custom icons look great (because they are part of a package that includes 64 x 64 sizes), but the software icons on my desktop (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) look lousy at 64x64. Will IconX allow me to change, say, just the "My Computer" and recycle bin icons to a larger size without resizing everything else? Would it be able to do it just on the desktop (I don't want big honkin' icons in the start menu)? Thanks.

I use Avedesk (Free) which allows you to use any icon or png on your desktop and you can have each one a different size if you want and with or without text under them or just text on mouseover

DesktopX allows you to very quickly create objects that link to files and they can be whatever you want them to be.

Search the DX gallery for zoomers or your app.

'tis true - with DTX you can create individual 'icons' to 'replace' your desktop ones.

they can be any size (truly any size - I used to have one huge honking 600x600 one).
they can be animated - either on mouse activation or perpetually moving (either in place or all around your desktop)
they can be all text if you want - with different text on mouse over

I took a look at Desktop X, and while it looks cool,I'm not all that interested in a lot of the Desktop X features...I just want to make a few of my desktop icons larger, that's all. Is there anyway short of buying Desktop X to do what I want?

Yes, Avedesk is reliable. DesktopX has much more to offer and there is a free trial version so you can check it out first.

Thanks everyone. I already have Windowblinds and Icon packager, so there's not much sense buying the whole Object Desktop suite. I'll look into Avedesk.

DX to change the size of a few icons is killing a fly with a shotgun - I'd try Avedesk first. DX is great, but comes with a fairly steep learning curve (Bichur is really smart ).

Creating icons with DX is like a gateway drug for all DX can do.

Serious.

Go back an look at the list.

See if maybe there's 2 or 3 items you might consider buying. Add those prices up, then compare to an upgrade to the full package with all of it.

How good of a deal, is subjective to how many of the programs you want.

it was just a suggestion....

Hey leafdesigner what's up? For whatever its worth, from my own experience, DesktopX is the way to go - it is versatile and easy to use. And, since you already have WindowBlinds and IconPackager, you'll be able to keep those up to date for another year by getting the Object Desktop upgrade. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the overall value of Object Desktop, its power and its ease of use.

/me takes the reverse psychology route:

Ah Stardock! Who needs them and their capitalist mindset.

I can't believe in this day and age that corporations are still trying to make money off of good (nay! great) software.

I'll wait until the next hurricane hits Plymouth, MI and loot the software I need.

Yeah! That's the ticket!

19 applications for $34?? Too rich for my blood anyway.

Bah Humbug!
