Just a couple of questions/comments

Iconia V, Unarmed Defenders, and Political Parties

I posted the following before in the 1.4 thread (https://forums.galciv2.com/index.aspx?aid=133988&p=2), but everyone was busy talking about something else, so I figured I'd ask here.

I have a few questions/comments:

1. In my current game, I was sizing up the Yor Collective when I noticed they hadn't colonized Iconia V for some reason. I checked their star system, and it turns out that they have a very good reason: It wasn't there. I know it used to be there; I have an old save file with it. What happened to Iconia V?

2. Concerning unarmed defenders: I know that they are built to stop transports from just going in to thake planets. However, why are some built with defense modules? If I understand the combat system correctly, a Huge ship filled with nothing but Invulnerability Fields (is that what the ultimate shield is called) will be destroyed by one Tiny ship armed with one Particle Beam eventually; the only difference is that it'll take a very long time in the tactical viewer.

3. What determines the political party of various alien races? I see that they're not all Federalists anymore like I seem to recall them being previously, but there's still an awful lot of Federalists, a couple of War Party members, and one Pacifist (the Altarian Republic) in my game now (as Terran Alliance vs. all but Iconians and Thalans). Also, while I can see the Drengin for the War Party, the other one is the Torians, who don't really strike me as the War Party type.

1.I have no idea

2.You can have transports armed with extreme defences to take shots for escorting ships, but it's not recommened.

3.The stock files, RACECONFIG, go and dig mate

My 2 cents

No, the party setting in the data files only determines the default party for when *you* play those races. The AI picks its own party from all those available.

Ah, I see. One more question: What good is the Subspace Blaster? It's the next beam weapon after Disruptors III, but it's larger, more expensive, and doesn't do any more damage.

It isn't really. I'd just keep going to Doom Rays myself.

How odd. I was playing last night and I noticed that the Altarian's planet Wisp wasn't there. I don't know if it had been missing all game, or if it had vanished sometime during play, but I don't remember seeing it all game. (This is in 1.31)

Is there some kind of glitch? or have home systems been randomized slightly?

Uh-oh, look out for planet-eating space monsters!

I use it to get a few hundred extra credits when trading Techs. The aI will pay more for it than for Disruptors III. And if they get it before D III they will waste $$ and space on an inferior weapon.
