BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!

Simply put, I installed bootskin and selected a boot screen, then I rebooted my computer. My PC booted up and the new screen showed up, next the new screen goes away and up comes the blue screen with error messages. Is there anyway I can uninstall the program from a command prompt or maybe do a system restore from the command prompt? Thanks is anybody can help and by the way, the PC is running Windows 2000. I will boot the PC up again so I can write down the error message. Thanks in advance.

It would take hours of searching to find a skin someone actually made...

marlborored_99, boot into safe mode, open bootskin and set to default bootscreen, it is the top one in skin list. You will then be able to uninstall bootskin.

wouldn't post

I wouldn't think that is a BootSkin issue. BootSkin only hangs on the hard drive.

it may not be, all I know is I never had any problem with my PC until my first reboot with bootskin. my pc is less than a year old. My first boot my "new" boot screen appeared for about 5 seconds, then blue screen of death. Tried to reboot again in safe mode to remove it and my system would not even post. Could just be bad luck for it to happen on my first reboot with bootskin. But, it just seems odd. The odds of that happening has got to be unreal. Like I said could just be bad luck.

Fuzzy Logic, check the bootskins daily, there are literally thousands of great bootskins out there, take a few minutes and I'm sure you'll find something that catches your eye, heck the search engine on the bootskin page may help shorten the time required to search for something specific.

Plus if bootskin does work on your pc, send out a request and let us know what kind of bootskin you want created for you, chances are you'll probably get a lot of responses.

I discovered this site and bootskinning in general only a couple of months ago, I got hooked, became a wincustomize subscriber and the rest is history.

Yeah I had the same problem. If your a Geek, like me, consider building your PC. Usually it works with Systems you built yourself because the BIOS is different than BIOSes in a commercially built. Besides its fun to build your PC.

I'd just stay away from bootskin...I've seen nothing but complaints about it and it obviously isn't all that stable. Would be nice if it worked all the time..but I just hate the color blue on my screen!

I agree, that bugs the shit out of me

At least in Win98 you could 'skin' the BSOD as well...it actually didn't have to be Blue at all...

i too couldn't get bootskin(tried all versions & always got BSOD on restart saying error with driver vidstub) to work on my computer but after i installed a bootskin changer software i noticed that now i can use bootskin correctly.it add some lines in my default boot.ini & now i don't even have to install it anymore.i just copied my changed boot.ini & whenever i have to reinstall xp i simply copy this to original boot.ini & bootskin works perfectly.

Nice information on Bootskin all, but it still is not the problem that I am having with object desktop. I wish it was as simple as that.

Probably because it/they were in response to a Bootskin query, and not an OD one...

*sigh* 'Pears I'm subject to this nForce mobo problem noted above. Dammit. Don't suppose there's any chance of Bootskin being rewritten to avoid this problem? Perhaps for a Vista release? Failing that, is there any other product of this nature? I'm tweaking so much else in the UI, I'd really hate to be saddled with that boring boot screen if I don't have to be!

It's unlikely that bootskin will be rewritten.  Because of so many possible problems with different BIOS I think the support calls would eat any profit.

One never knows though . . ..

For those that care...emachines w3107 onboard nvidia...no problems with bootskin.

If you cant boot in safe mode...try f8 and last known good configuration.
