The Freedom of the Torians

We were a simple race. We grew on our homeworld, called Toria, and were happy to live, and let live. Until the Drengin came. Those brutal and dangerous being surprised us, and took control of our entire specie, for millenias. Until we grew strong ennough to drive them off. But never again, will our kin be the same.
Now, with the help of the humans, we have managed to free ourselves from Toria alone, and feel ready expand, in order to survive, whenever the Drengins will come back.
Our exploration ships were lucky, and discovered half a dozen worlds, some of good qualities, within reach of Toria. However, in our travels, we have met two kin we would have not cared to miss: the Yor, a specie who didn't looked that different from the drengins, at least in morality. And our long-lived nemesis, the Drengins.
We ignored a few worlds in our first colony rush, and we now regret it. The Drengins seized Toria IV, which we deliberetly left unnocupied, for better times. They also seized one of the twin world that marks the border between our territory, and the Yor's.
However, with these kinds of neighbour, we planned to defend ourselves. Our scientists discovered ways to intensify light power within a powerful and harmful beam, called "Laser". With this new weapon, we built a small fleet of small ships, called "Blood Patrol". Because these ships would make every ennemy pay in blood for their conquest of Torian worlds.
We got to meet other races, more peaceful. The Arceans, the Humans, Thalans and Altarians. We developped strong economic ties with the Arceans, but we fear that they are just that for now, economic. The Drengin are arming themselves more and more every day, and we may not be up to the challenge...
Until, finally, we decided that if we didn't attacked now, in a preemtive attack, we would eventually be the loosers. We stroke with a new generation of Blood Fighters, and managed to disable some of their battle fleet.
However, by being too aggressive, we were reckless. We left on of our remote world undefended, and a sneaky Drengin Transport attacked, and killed everyone of their population.
That atrocity was not to be left unanswered. Our engineers managed to built the biggest starship of the galaxy: the Attack Gunship. Equipped with the newly developped Plasma Cannons, it was more than a match for the Drengin fighters. We used a cleverly built military starbase, bordering Drengia, to launch an incredible assault on their homeworld. We did to them what they did to us. We invaded their homeworld, and we killed everyone on it. Drengia was us, and the Price of Blood has been repaid.
Quickly, the Drengin realized they were not of a match for us, and petitionned for peace. In exchange of many social-improvement technologies, they would share with us their most powerful weapon: the Nano-Ripper.
And right after the end of the Torian-Drengin war, the galaxy was at peace. The Torians and the Arceans were the two most powerful species of the galaxies, and they signed a treaty of Alliance. It was a time of peace, and understanding...
But the Altarians wanted to rid everything evil from the face of the galaxy, and attacked the Yor in a brutal manner. Some weeks after that, while our species stilled struggled to rebuild a civilian infrastructure, the Leader of the Arcean Empire visited one of our world, to inspect the factory their governement has some business dealing with. A strike occured at the same time, and a protested shot him. The mighty Arcean-Torian alliance was broken in a savage war...
Where the Drengin had used crude mass-drivers to fight, the Arcaean used effective beam weapon and shield, the exact same than ours. A war of attrition was at hand, if our brillant leader had not insisted that we aquired the Drengin's mass driver. A new generation a medium ship was put into service. Where the Attack Gunship was shielded and possessed powerful beam weaponry, the Corvette BM-1 would have 1 nano-ripper and phasors to peirce Arcean's defenses, while wearing a powerful shield.
However, the nano-ripper was a costly technology, and it would be some time before the Corvette BM-1 would get out massively out of the shiyards...
