why not trying to wait a while and see what people have to say. oddly enough in michigan where frogboy (FROGBOY IS BRAD WARDELL THE MAIN DEV ON THE GAME, I USE ALL CAPS SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND AND HEAR ME< YOU ASKED ABOUT FROGBOY IN ONE OF YOUR FOUR OTHER POSTS) it is the weekend, so there is no one from stardock (THE COMPANY WHO MADE THE GAME) to answer, you have the right answer from people here, it is just luck, but if you really really REALLY want to know, wait til monday when everyone is back and you might get a dev's answer on one of your posts, or... you might get banned, which is the one i hope happens. have a nice day

Once the invasion begins, an advantage factor is calculated for both sides of the ground war.
This number takes into account various factors, including quality of the soldiers, their courage
planetary defenses, and technology level. The invading force gets a 5 point advantage due to
air superiority. The invading force can choose their preferred invasion tactic, which also affects
the advantage factor. After all the choices are made, the potential advantage factors are
displayed and will continue to fluctuate throughout their potential range until the invasion begins.
After fighting begins, the advantage factors are locked down and both sides take casualties until
there are no troops remaining for one of the forces. The remaining force has control of the planet.

Phyco this, as Byram found, is how it is. I understand your issue with the reflexes part but the game is just letting you see the random calculations taking place untill you push the button. If it did not show you the calculations, wich would be better probably, you would not have even brought this up. I hope all this helps?
And I noticed that you posted a third and fourth time with ALL CAPITALS again. You should stop this.

Frogboy is Brad Wardell at Stardock. Click on "Everything" in the forum links box above. On the right side of the list you'll see our nick names.Find Frogboy and open one of his posts. Click on his name and you'll see his real picture. I found his E-mail there too: bwardell@stardock.com

I SUGGEST THAT WHEN YOU E-MAIL HIM...that you do not use all capital letters.

Yes, Phyco... Stardock will usually not respond untill the workdays of Monday through Friday...um...Phyco. I have some polite questions. What country do you reside in? Are you new to the internet?

We all like to answer other's questions. Feel free to ask the simplest of questions. Some might be rude but most will not.

If you USE ALL CAPITAL LETTERS people find it annoying because it is like you are shouting. In this case most will be rude and some will not.

It's like using proper diplomacy.

I personally think it is a bit of both.

My feeling is that the numbers aren't random, but rather, they randomly float up and down by smaller increments. So that if you see a good advantage in the numbers, clicking as soon as possible would reduce the amount by which it could float away from those numbers.

Of course, this may be complete bulls**t on my behalf. A dev would have to say.

It'd be interesting to see a "generalised" invasion advantage that doesn't change (eg. 15 +/- 10 vs 5 +/- 3) and then when you click "invade" it picks the final two numbers.

I'm sure it's meant to be fast enough so that reflexes do not play a part and that it is random... but I agree that it does feel a bit like playing a really fidgety arcade game when you invade
