Using Imageshack to post your images

Linking to images in these forums

There appears to be a growing problem in the forums of people linking to images that are far too big to view correctly and are causing the site to look strange and threads to become unreadable!
To help combat this please follow these steps to uploading an image and succesfully linking to it in a thread

Using Imageshack

  • Open your browser to Imageshack
  • Click the 'browse' button and locate the image you wish to upload
  • Click the 'Host It' button
  • On the next screen that opens find the 'Thumbnail for Websites' code.
  • Copy the provided code into your post and your thumbnail will be displayed for you!.

Example: -

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Hopefully we can keep the threads looking good without any pagebreaks.
Many thanks

Darth Griffin

which imageshack link do you use to get the clicky thumbnail? I've been using the top one in "Thumbnail Size" but the URL line don't work. :(

Make sure you are in classic view and look for the tag: Thumbnail Code : sites

code should look like this:

Code: html
  1. <a href="http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gc2dadecepticons1201291vi4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/6217/gc2dadecepticons1201291vi4.th.jpg" border="0" /></a>

Thank god, this has been annoying me for awhile. I've been using the thumbnails but people STILL insist on having their huge 1920x1200 picture straight on the forum.

Another advantage of the thumbnails is that less bandwidth to download the thumbnail, which means your picture will stay on Imageshack for longer, as every time someone just opens the thread, it doesn't download the whole image (just a tiny 3kb one). The pages will also load faster too.
